AKRON, Ohio — Multiple investigative sources say the cremated remains of dozens of people were found in a vacant Akron church Tuesday morning after a search warrant was executed in connection with Shawnte Hardin, indicted last year on a slew of charges related to his alleged involvement with an illegal funeral business.

Officials with the BCI confirmed their agency executed a search warrant on Buchtel Avenue on Tuesday in connection with 41-year-old Shawnte Hardin, but would not provide further details as the investigation is ongoing.

Hardin was indicted in October 2021, according to the Ohio Attorney General's Office. Last year, Ohio BCI "removed two bodies from a building he was using for makeshift funeral services at 1615 E. Livingston Ave. in Columbus."

Illegal funeral home in a church. Sounds like he was just dumping peoples ashes in the cellars and just piling bodies up. This is so creepy and crazy that someone would do this. Of all the scams this guy is doing the funeral scam.
