Drum 'n' Race for NUON Announced at JagFest 2026

This past weekend, I flew from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Rochester, Minnesota, USA for JagFest, a retro video game convention hosted by Songbird Productions. Here, I demoed a WIP build of a new racing game being developed for NUON called Drum 'n' Race. It's being programmed by community member @Plutonic and I've been doing all the hardware testing. For the event, I put together some placeholder game controller cover art and burned an authenticated rom to DVD-R. The game is still in early beta and the release date is TBD. Hope you all enjoy this little sneak peek.

Very exciting! Is Songbird going to release it or someone else?

Game was really fun! Some levels needed a little polish, but the framerate was super smooth and the controls and fun-factor were solid.

Thanks V-Snes, it's really cool to see it out in the wild! For those that don't know, this was a Yaroze game I worked on originally over 20 years ago, but never finished. After being poked back into life when asked about Breakdown, I thought it would be interesting to see if I could get it building again and finish it off. So it is a bit of a mix of "trying to keep it how it originally was" and "trying to make it fun to play", there is a line that needs to be found somewhere there.
As for publishing it, it's not something I had even thought of to be honest. I am not sure there is enough game there to warrant it, though a Nuon Yaroze Collection would be pretty cool!
