Hard to say, I have the DS but not PSP, and PSP is looking mighty fine. On the other hand, I'm a huge Nintendo fan, I love they're franchise games (Like Mario, Zelda, DK, etc) and if they keep up with what they're doing by converting those huge games into DS games with new features, I'd gladly have Nintendo's babies.
I prefer the Nintendo DS. PS2 may have better graphics & things like that, but Nintendo is much better of a Hand Held system.
- Dual screens
- Much longer battery life
- Bottom screen can also act like a touchpad (you can touch things instead of clicking)
- Wireless LAN connection that can support up to 16 people
- Microphone (you can talk into it for certain games or chat wirelessly with each other on LAN)
- Backwards compatable. (you can still play old games, while on the PSP you can't play any old games)
- Way more games
- 100$ cheaper & weighs lighter
History repeats itself...Nintendo's Gameboy (the first one) & Sony's Game Gear were some of the first hand helds. Gameboy, as you guys hopefully know, did much better. It had worse graphics & things than Game Gear, but Game Gear took like 16 AA batteries and had a shorter battery life.
And I have nothing much to say other than I agree with Demonfaze's argument. Except, I do have to ask, is the DS really lighter than the PSP? I don't have a PSP so I don't know, but if so, rock on!
You know, there is more to the PSP than games you know... I dont have EITHER system. I am torn between wanting the DS (for the franchises...oh the franchises...) and wanting the PSP, which i regard as clearly the better system. I see the dual screens and the touchpad as a novelty with limited appeal, to be honest. Not every game can use the function effectively. Not every game would WANT to (the metroid game comes to mind....using the touchscreen to aim is dumb...they have a d-pad for that) Frankly, the DS doesnt seem to that much of a hands on system. The PSP's power comes from its versatility, which none of you have mentioned, and the fact that it plays better games, period. I don't must mean better graphics, i mean bigger, higher quality games. They really should start the rpg mecca right about now... To be honest, I will go with whatever system Square-Enix goes for. I mean, if they port Final Fantasy 6 to either system, I'm there.
Q: PSP can play more in-depth games...
A: Well, I don't know about you guys, but handhelds for me should be fast action / fast paced action like a racing game or a FPS. It's really dumb if you are going to spend time on a handheld system at home, which you would have to if you hope to get even near beating a long RPG. You could be playing much bigger games (XBox, PS2, etc) on a way, way, bigger screen. (The PSP's screen is smaller than my hand...).
Q: Multimedia features...
A: Well, I'd rather get a DVD player since it is much better quality and a bigger screen. Also, the battery lasts much, much longer on a DVD player than a PSP. A PSP battery could die out before the movie is over if it is a long movie.
Q: Wherever final fantasy goes...I follow?
A: Maybe...there are other good RPGs though if you've ever tried Chrono-Trigger (or Chrono Cross) or non-turn-based RPGs like Tales of Symphonia (my favorite RPG ever).
Im speaking for square in general....Chrono Trigger IS from square. And believe, I played that game through over....20?30? times. Tales of Phantasia for the SNES (I had a rom) was fun. Secret of mana is always fun...that would be an awesome game for mulitplayer.
I happen to be a huge fan of RPGs, so I can't exactly agree with you. Besides, if you have ever played secret of mana, or the less well known Seiken Densetsu III (secret of mana 3...I played a translated ROM by Dejap) that would make an awesome multiplayer game. You say leave the RPGs to the consoles? Nay...RPGs are just begging to be let loose (Golden Sun, anyone? Final Fantasy Tactics? or even Tactics Ogre?) Granted, some of those aren't quite RPGs, but they are in-depth games. Who says handhelds have to be shallow? Technology has come a long way. I say the games should have too.
The point I'm trying to make is that I don't plan on spending hours and hours on a hand-held system. It's uncomfortable to be with your head down & staring at a screen the size of your hand for hours & hours.
I've played Golden Sun, Golden Sun 2, and SoM, which are good games, but would be even more fun if they were on a console (with better graphics, of course). PSP has insane graphics, as good as consoles, you might say. Yes, they are good, but everything is micro-sized .
AHHHhhhh, who cares...I've stopped playing handhelds all together as soon as I started playing Warcraft
Secret of mana on a console? Heck, the first secret of mana was on a gameboy, if you didnt know (Secret of Mana on the snes was Seiken Densetsu II) It is a barebones rpg with fun party action. THAT you can enjoy on the spot, and with friends too. Hey, perhaps make a transition to 3d with the same theme.
As for spending hours and hours looking at a little screen, whats the difference between a big screen and a little screen, lol. Sides, the point is, people love rpgs. I am one of them. And having them to go is a very good thing . They are not necessarily games you spend hours at a pop on. Rather, if you have a few minutes, you can get further along in the game, then save, etc. Hmm...maybe i should post a thread about what favorite games should be ported to the modern handhelds. Personally, Final Fantasy VI and VII should be no brainers. Most Square games would also fit the bill. A new Final Fantasy Tactics, port chrono chross and chrono trigger, the list goes on and on.
A handheld is for when you are caught away from home, without any form of civilization in sight (in the form of a console or pc to play on, lol) A game could take anywhere from a few minutes (I personally avoid those) to hours ( )
Well...if I'm away from home I don't get more than a few minutes to play since usually I'm busy with whatever it is keeping me away from home.
"As for spending hours and hours looking at a little screen, whats the difference between a big screen and a little screen, lol." Dunno, it hurts my neck & my eyes. Maybe that's just me.
I have two salmon, Sockeye and Atlantic. Atlantic is used for the kids salmon and the salmon and beet salad, and can also be added onto any dish or just as a side. Atlantic salmon will almost exclusively ever be FARMED, as it is endangered in the wild, and we ALWAYS cut them to 4 ounces.
SOCKEYE salmon, very different and this IS wild caught. We have an ENTREE version, and an add on version. The entree is 7 ounces, the add on is 4. Why? Because that is how someone that wasn't me set up the computer.
So, taking into consideration that what I typed out up there is kind of some fucking nonsense that under normal circumstances no one really needs to fucking be able to explain in any rational way
Let alone trying to figure it out from a wildly stressed out me that is also on a phone call trying to get something to show up from Seattle tomorrow while trying to explain this salmon situation, that also is barely solved in maybe a few hours and and but I am bulking it with a few steelhead filets I have and that is a WHOLE fucking different thing to the 19 year old server that got put on day shift C crew that doesn't know who I am.
All in all though I think this summer is going really well. Some complicated things, but at the end of the day it isn't THAT big of a deal. Not all of our servers have quite realized they are technically sales
Like yeah it is a substitute, but FOMO. Chef isn't getting this again this year, he has to figure it out, so it's slightly off on the menu, but that is more or less the LOWEST quality and price. Right now, steelhead is a real stealhear, right?
Maybe the bartender. Idk, it's one of my favorite things to hear them go from calm to customer service voice. They will translate it to like "The chef is trying to change that a bit right now so he does have a Alaskan river steelhead. Yeah like the one you might fish probably!" And then the girls can bat their eyes and do pretty girl server shit
