Dummy Spell for Item

Is there such thing as a dummy spell that can be coupled with an item so that when the item is clicked, a trigger is executed? I seem to remember such a thing mentioned...

Items work off abilities. Also, there are trigger events for "A hero uses an item" and such. Thus, you can incorporate items with trigger spells, yes.

Why, what did you have in mind? :)

You can capture creeps. And when that happens, an item is given to you. When you use the item, it summons the creep to fight for you! Trying to recreate an effect I saw in a map.

How exactly would I set up an item to be click-detectable?

EDIT: when you click the item again, the creep is put back into your inventory, and a cooldown is applied to the item, so you have to wait a while to use the creep again.

... So basically, you want an item that's empty, but capable of holding creatures.

Simple. Have it useable on a creep, and then switch THAT item for another item.

Set cooldown and charges to what you want. Or don't set charges. Infinite summoning.

Yes, that's pretty much what I was going to do. But I need to make an item that does either: summon a permanent unit with a spell and then take it away; or call a trigger with an empty that creates a permanent unit and then removes the unit later.

The first idea won't work because the same spell can't both add and remove a unit. So I'll have to use triggers. How do I set up an item to cast a dummy spell?

Bump: how do I make an item that does nothing but cast a spell? The spell doesn't do anything either... just... you know, a dummy spell. What ability and item should I base it off?

It sounds like your trying to do something similar to the capture ability in a pokemon map I've played, I think what they do is, when the ability is cast, if the creep is low on hp (15% or so) it would remove the empty PokeBall item with another PokeBall and move the target creep to a place in the map and changs owner of the creep to a computer that the players dont have shared view with and when the ability is used (the PokeBall is opened) it moves the creep from the position in the map, changes owner to the owner of casting unit and places the creep near the caster.

Thats how I think they did it. If it makes it easier to understand the above paragraph, think of a 'creep' as a pokemon.

Phyrex1an: channel works great, thanks.

Nox: yeah, that's what I was aiming for. The only problem is that I want to be able to save creeps from one game to another using a save code. And to be able to look at your inventory and see exactly what creeps you have (gotta catch 'em all ;))

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.

    That sounds like an adventure.

The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
