I have 2 gb system with WIn7 x86, so the problem is that its hard to test map without closing editor! Because Editor consume like 800-1000 mb! And game is lagging as hell...

so... my question is - if someone has discovered some tweaks or little tips or hints what ever, how to avoid this dragon like-consumtion...

**Maybe some specific editor settings? Maybe some tips? I need any help!**

And plz dont post stupid comments like:

1. "oh 2Gb its not enough in our hard times... bla bla"

2. "hm very strange, i have a mac with 8Gb, no problems so far..."

3. "downgrade to windows 98 it should save you - 450mb Ram"

4. "forget editor, go download some lolicon porn, hot little girls should solve it!" ( -my favorite so far)

I run it at 2GB as well, Only one channel at DD2. o.o...

If you go to Window > Console, then type in cachesize, vidmem, then sysmem, it shows all the memory currently used. sysmem shows your ram data, not what the editor uses, cachesize shows what the editor is currently using, vidmem shows what your GPU's RAM is taking because of the editor.

lol? should not editor do GPU RAM unloading?
Is it true that editor and starcraft.exe uses 50/50 GPU resources at the same time?
Is not it retarded?

i got 6gb of memory
4 real gb of memory and 2 of virtual memory
Graphics card is just proprietary onboard graphics tho

so really i have 4.. the system was sold to me as a 6gb memory system
It was a $800 HP from last February brand new from Best Buy. Eventually i'll buy some more memory.

I have Vista 64
At any time... this is what my processes look like..
Firefox 322,000 K
uTorrent 115,992 K
explorer.exe 46,268K
dwm.exe 29,608
a dozen others for about 25,000 k
these flucuate if i leave firefox on many days in a row with multiple tabs.. it can get as high as 700,000-800,000

Galaxy Editor uses more then firefox.. but my system is stable.. when it gets up to 900,000 -1,000,000 the system starts to get a little unresponsive folders and files open slow

I noticed something last night.. i tested a map.. and my pc started to chug bigtime.. i mean a stuttering slow mess... game was unplayable...
I ctrl-alt-deleted out to task manager Galaxy Editor was using 1,500,000K(while testing in SC2 is using about 500,000K)
i exited Galaxy Editor to restart it... and warnings came up...
"Are you sure you want to close without saving" about 10 of them... seems i had 10 maps open? Thats the reason why Galaxy Editor spiked..

I have to make sure they arent still open..i havent tried yet, cuz i just woke up... but i'll check into closing them properly later when i open it again.

Maybe this is the case for u?

The game itself uses around 1.4gigs on my machine. The editor uses around .8gigs. This is about right if you ask me. If you turn down your quality and turn off a lot of options, you can get it down. You need to remember everything it loads, data editor, triggers, terrain graphics, unit graphics, etc etc.

This is a very powerful tool.

He said he got ripped off when he got his machine. However, it can run all the programs he throws at it, even Galaxy. This is not the case when he has many maps open at the same time.

I can open 12 different maps, I run it at High settings, and I have 0 lag, I don't see what everyone is doing different. o.o...

lol basically... even Crysis with everything at 50% basically, and very playable. Tho Transformers 2 would not run good at all it was a slow choppy slideshow... i have no idea why, frankly i don't care... lol

as far as maps.. i'll explain further...

I open a map... tool around with it or test play it, .. then i'll open another map and do the same... i'll spend a few hours doing that with 10 or so maps.. all using the open map button on the top.. but not once did i actually close any maps..

im assuming thats why my editor all of a sudden was using 1,500,000K memory and slowed down my machine and when i closed Galaxy last night i got 10 warnings asking me Are you sure you want to Quit? Basically i have 10 maps open at once and didnt realize it...

The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
