enemy respawning

in my map i have enemy units that get killed by the player's hero, and when they die, i want a new different unit (a slightly stronger one) to respawn in their place, how do i do that?

make an item that gives to max health and is used on pick up and drop it on your new units when they respawn...

i would use the manual of health, but that only works on heroes, how do i make it work on regular units?

either create new units that look the same but have higher hp/armor w/e or just make it a hero at lvl 1 with no exp gain and then give it some tomes
