Enemy units won't cast spells

I have a map where I create waves of units for the enemy player, "Player 5". I give them Neutral Hostile creep type units, and order them to attack "Player 1". The creeps will attack me, but they won't ever use any of their abilities or spells. Anyone know why, or if theres an easy way to get them to randomly use their abilities on their own?

You can trigger it but i remember making custom hero with a triggered spell, smart little hero casted it on me everytime i hit like 20% and killed me

Wasnt triggered and totally unintentional... Was a revive bug actually, made an enemy hero same stats cuz u respawn twice and worked for neutral hostile at same time...

I looked into the problem a bit more and am still stumped. Very rarely every once in awhile a wave of enemies will decide to use their abilities, like once I saw some troll healers healing, and later a razormane stunned me with a boulder, but for example in other waves, troll trappers never ensnared me, and satyrs never cast curse on me, and usually the troll healers almost never heal. At first it seemed like when they DID use their abilities maybe it was because I distracted them from attacking me somehow and they had a second to think and do something else, but this isn't always the case as I then tried to do this on purpose in every wave and it would only work maybe 5% of the time. I also thought maybe it was because I was telling the units to attack me specifically, but I tried it without and still got the same results.

I did find however, that if I make the creeps be just normal creeps not belonging to a player, then they act normally and use their abilities on me, but as soon as I create them for "player 5", they basically forget how to fight... I need them to belong to a player though, and I really can't create a specific trigger every time I want them to use an ability on someone, anyone have any idea how I can get them to behave smartly and use their spells on their own?

to test at least, you could order the units to "stop" whenever they engage enemy units, rather than "attack" when a nuit is attacking, its not casting spells.

I'm thinking if you order a unit to attack you it won't stop attacking (literally attacking - not casting spells) you until you die or are out of its vision.

When you return to its vision (or return from death), it probably will cast spells.

Test that.

Actually i have run into that problem before, I just used triggers to make em cast spells every onc in a while. It's actually better to do that cuz then you can make your own lil computer AI casting system. (Or at least I think its better)

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content
  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even

:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
