Whenever I try to install Norton Antivirus 2003, I get this error:

Error 1606. Could not access network location %USERPROFILE%\PrintHood\

How do I fix it?

In fact, whenever I try to install anything, i get the same error. Please help me or else I will not be able to install anything. :(

By the way, I have a HP computer with Windows XP pre-installed.

Try this: (from Symantec's web site) ...

----

Error: "Error 1606. Could not access network location <file name and location>" when attempting to install or uninstall Norton AntiVirus

Situation:
While installing or uninstalling Norton AntiVirus or Norton AntiVirus Professional (collectively referred to as NAV in this document), you see the following error message "Error 1606. Could not access network location." The error then refers to a path and file name. The file referred to can be any file in any location. However, the following paths and file names have been reported:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
C:\MyDocuments\My Pictures

You may also see the error "Error 1316. A network error has occurred."

Solution:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To fix the problem, edit the registry and remove a key that was left by MSI to roll back the failed installation. Restart the computer and log on as Administrator, and then uninstall or reinstall NAV. If that does not fix the problem, then, if you had a previous version of NAV installed, run the Rnav2003.exe removal tool in compatibility mode to remove all previous versions of NAV including NAV 2003 and then reinstall NAV.

The details of these steps follow.

To edit the registry

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARNING: We strongly recommend that you back up the system registry before making any changes. Incorrect changes to the registry could result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify only the keys that are specified. See the document How to back up the Windows registry before you proceed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Click Start, and then click Run. The Run dialog box appears.
Type regedit and then click OK. The Registry Editor opens.
Click the Edit menu, and then click Find. The Find dialog box appears.
In the Find What box, type or copy and paste the following:

55EB66EFB74A75B4D9E26680831FE059

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: These are zeroes, not capital O's.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure that Keys, Values, and Data in the section headed "Look at" are checked.
Click Find Next.
Click the 55EB66EFB74A75B4D9E26680831FE059 key.
Press Delete, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Press the F3 key to search for the next instance of this key.
Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each key that is found until you see the message that the registry editor is finished searching.
Exit the Registry editor.
Restart the computer and log on as Administrator.
Depending on when the error occurred, install or uninstall NAV and restart the computer.

If this does not fix the problem, then continue on to the next section.

To uninstall and reinstall NAV (NAV 2003 and earlier only)

To run remove NAV using the Rnav2003.exe removal utility
To run the Rnav2003.exe removal tool in compatibility mode to remove all previous versions of NAV including NAV 2003 read the document How to run the Rnav2003.exe removal utility in compatibility mode after upgrading to Windows XP.

To reinstall NAV
If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, then restart the computer and log on as Administrator.
Read the document How to reinstall Norton AntiVirus after you see error messages for instructions on how to clean boot the computer and reinstall NAV.

If these steps do not fix the problem, then read the Microsoft Article: Error 1606. Could Not Access Network Location <Common Administrative Tools>.All Users\" Error Message When You Install a Program-Article ID 315352

Technical Information:
Cause
This error can be caused when a computer has been upgraded from an older version of Windows to Windows XP and the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) is still pointing to the MSI folder used by the older version of Windows.

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.

    That sounds like an adventure.

400 users all online all looking at latest content
  • The Helper The Helper:
I wonder how all these bots that sit on the lastest content page get passed anubis or maybe they did not but they are just registering on whos online
  • The Helper The Helper:
showing up on whos online not registration
  • Ghan Ghan:
The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    got it
