Everybody's Wrong About Bricks & Minifigs Case (Reckless Ben)

This is a mess that is probably going to play out in court for a long time. It might not be worth it for old Reckless Ben but then again, maybe it will - lets watch, I will be

Utah-based reseller parts ways with owners involved in viral Lego theft allegations

Utah-based Lego reseller Bricks and Minifigs announced it is parting ways with franchise owners who were connected to a viral YouTube video series that followed an alleged botched consignment of a collection worth thousands in value.

According to a press release from the company, franchise owners Brandon Best and Joshua Johnson entered a “mutual agreement to part ways” following a series of viral videos released by YouTuber Benjamin Schneider, also known as “Reckless Ben.” The video series included a chase that led Schneider to Utah to track down the owners.

The reseller characterized the videos as “a devastating social media campaign.”

The reseller said it would also be closing its Salem, Oregon, store location, where the consignment of the collection is said to have taken place.

'A franchisee went rogue.' Bricks & Minifigs CEO responds to Reckless Ben's allegations

This is the Devil right here Gaslighting everyone - that is just my opinion based on everything I have seen and my experience with people. Its been a year this has been going on and they knew they had the collection. It was the largest collection in the same town as the corporate and they say they did not know is ridiculous and this going to end Bricks and Minifigs imho. The Lego community does not put up with this. Then the police start arresting and assaulting people. Yeah.

From everything I've watched about this situation, my impression is that this is 100% not the first time they have done this and isn't a "franchisee going rogue". This is in their plan to try to mitigate liability with them doing this kind of thing. And the main reason I think so is that the story the side of Bricks and Minifigs, Joshua Johnson, etc each has directly contradicted itself several times over the duration. Like, Ben's and the former Franchisee's story in the start of Ben's first video and even into the lawsuit filings has seemed to remain relatively consistent, which is a lot harder to do if you're lying and more info comes out. Yet, the more info that comes out seems to stay largely in line with the story they've gone with. Sure they're both going to provide info that puts themselves in the best light they can, that's what humans generally do, but they haven't needed to flip flop on it.

The unredacted body cam footage that was leaked online and then captured and spread was not great if it's real.

American Fork PD Bodycam Exposes 4th Amendment Violations on Reckless Ben

The cops in this are probably the biggest concern. It might take a few years and maybe something happens otherwise but everything I have seen on and heard on this are that were some major civil rights violations by these cops and that potentially will be the biggest fallout on this.

Police Force Involved In Lego Investigation ‘Hacked,’ YouTuber Claims, As New Footage Is Released

Reckless Ben's ongoing Lego investigation just got weirder, as he's dropped a new video in which he states that American Fork Police Department has been 'hacked'

The internet’s favorite Lego conspiracy story (which, at this point, really isn’t even about Lego anymore) just had its strangest twist yet, as content creator Reckless Ben has recently announced that American Fork Police Department has allegedly been “hacked,” and inadvertently released what appears to be the unredacted footage of Ben’s encounters with the Utah-based police officers.

The last time we covered the ongoing feud between Lego resellers Bricks & Minifigs and Reckless Ben, American Fork police chief Cameron Paul had just released a video addressing Ben’s allegations against Joshua Johnson and Brandon Best; the two owners of the Oregon branch of Lego store Bricks & Minifigs, both of whom have been accused by Ben of stealing a $200,000 Lego Star Wars collection that was consigned to them by Bryan Mansell.

Well, actually, the last time we left the story was when Patreon’s CEO told Bricks & Minifigs to “stuff it” after the company asked Patreon to take down Reckless Ben’s content, but that part of the story isn’t immediately relevant. What is relevant, however, is Ben’s claim that American Fork’s police department are allegedly in cahoots with Johnson and Best, due to their alleged shared connections with the Mormon church in Utah.

In his latest video, which was released earlier this morning, Ben alleges that American Fork’s police department has been “hacked,” and the redacted audio from the second video in his $200,000 Lego investigation series has seemingly been leaked online as a result. Now, whether or not American Fork’s police department was actually hacked is a point of contention among Ben’s fanbase.

What We Presently Believe Actually Happened: A Summary Timeline of Bricks & Minifigs Salem Store

Bricks & Minifigs | Salem, Oregon Store | Published June 4, 2026

Subject to the ongoing investigation, this document has been prepared by Bricks & Minifigs to provide what we presently believe to be a transparent and sourced account of events related to the Salem, Oregon franchise location and the Mansell LEGO collection. Every entry is attributed to a verifiable source. We are publishing this because we believe the community deserves more than a one-sided picture.

2009–2018 | How Bricks & Minifigs Was Built and What It Was Built to Do

  • Bricks & Minifigs was founded in 2009 in Battle Ground, Washington. A second location opened in Canby, Oregon in 2010. Franchising began in 2011.
  • From day one, the business model has been Buy, Sell and Trade LEGO®. That is it. Consignment sales have never been part of the BAM model, the franchise agreement or the operations manual. No franchisee has ever been authorized to enter into a third party consignment arrangement on behalf of BAM.
  • In 2018, brothers Ammon McNeff (CEO) and Matt McNeff (COO) joined BAM Franchising, Inc. and grew the brand from 35 to over 300 locations across the U.S. and Canada.
  • BAM stores are independently owned and operated by franchisees bound by the franchise agreement and operations manual, which do not permit third-party consignment of LEGO® product.

Here is the Bricks & Minifigs version of what happened. It is almost like they are pretending there is no video of this. Many of the statements here are directly contrary to what is seen on video. That might work in court with Expensive attorneys but not in the court of public opinion. IMHO, this is just more gaslighting by an apparently evil corportation.

A Message To Bricks & Minifigs Corporate...

An Influencer that has done a LOT of sponsored content for Bricks and Minifigs speaks - this is the first time I have heard the word Resignation - should have been said by someone as an option way earlier than now. I do not think that there is anything that Bricks and Minifigs can do to save the company because the guy in all the videos is the owner. There is more on this coming to because this is not the first time they have done this to franchises its just the first time someone stood up to them.

I have worked with Bricks & Minifigs for years, and have worked with corporate in the past. I love my local store and this franchise has been so good for the LEGO community. I don't want to see it go away, but something big needs to change. I hope Brian and his family can be made right, and I want to see Bricks & Minifigs recover from this... whatever that might look like.

Bricks and Minifigs did the same thing to this guy. This guy just did not fight it though. I guess they thought everyone would be passive but its a pattern.

I should have had all of this like a month ago but whatever, it's fine. He's trying a thing, idk it's his menu I don
  • Varine Varine:
    I don't care.
  • Varine Varine:
Fuck I need more saturday nights off. Turns out I'm much cooler to drunk girls. If I hang out with enough people like that, eventually I'll meet one that likes me sober too
  • Varine Varine:
idk if anyone has ever done IT. I am not IT but I just got off a 20 minute phone call with the general manager asking me how to make her new computer print. I do adore her, like I know her personally, but I asked three times if the printer was on. She apologized for bothering me, and Chef Ben walked in a few minutes later, turned the printer on apparently, and then called to ask if I was trying to print shit from my house again
  • Varine Varine:
So I have a newfound appreciation
  • Varine Varine:
And also I'm going to remove that one from my secondary career options
  • Varine Varine:
As I get older I'm not thinking I can do this forever anymore, and I'm kind of dead end right now. I get a fine salary and fair raises, like I can easily live my lifestyle on this normally, but I don't know if I can do this in ten years, and I don't think I want to. I don't really have any desire to take over another restaurant, and I don't want to try and own one, and I doubt I'll luck out like I did with that taco place in Texas
  • Varine Varine:
I have a math degree but that was a while ago and I'm not positive I actually deserved that. It was kind of just given to me I feel like cuz I was in school so long. Like for a bit as a teenager I got real into the mormon thing, and my dad grew up kind of similarly. Much like he fell out of it
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway he started coming to church with me for a bit, and they gave home the I think Melchizedek? idk how to spell it, but it's the 'upper' priesthood, like he had a whole blessing thing after I got baptized, and it WAS a very neat experience. And the only reason I think they did they did that was cuz he was like late 30s, and that is kind of the age that they have the last chance at that
  • Varine Varine:
And I mean its not, but like... I'm pretty well set in my lack of religious beliefs, I guess. And I'm a bit younger than my dad would have been then.
  • Varine Varine:
And then I got real into, he got bored and was like you do you dude, and that's how I got a huge amount of freedom when I started doing drugs as a teenager
  • Varine Varine:
In hindsight my parents were fantastic. but they were too fucking tired to raise kids like me. And their jobs were easier with better benefits.
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway idk where I'm going here, but I asked ChatGPT some of the same things and holy shit was it way more strict and just gave me (importantly the wrong) phone number to a hotline
  • Varine Varine:
TH, I gotta say, though, I'm amazed you keep this up. I feel like there are you and Ghan doing whatever you're doing, Tom posting news, and then me using the chatbox as a journal every once in a while.

  • Varine Varine:
Thanks for letting me do that, also. I know I'm not using it correctly, but somewhere along the line I went from arguing with Cheshire to using this as a kind of void for my frustrations and hopes. I like to think of the whole thing as an enigma of sorts
  • Varine Varine:
It's not, you guys could probably blackmail me if you went back far enough. I doubt anyone would, you've always been very kind, and I'm glad to have been a part of all this! I hope you enjoy me too, cuz I'm going to keep doing it.

Brother how long we been here together? You guys are some of my best friends and I have never even met any of you. I dont know what I would if I did not have my Varine rant to look at when I get on. How could I possibly ever shut this site down? We have been here in this little chat box through a lot of shit for a long time. I love you guys!

I missed out on a lot of chat messages. But yeah, we're planning for my mom's funeral back in Taiwan. I'm really glad I work remotely, so I can try to leverage that and go to places outside of US while still working in US.

If it wasn't for my mom, I wouldn't be able to work in the US. Let alone being able to work until our office closed, and I became a full-time remote employee.

Really important though, get your wills and last testaments ready. We avoided like 2 to 3 months of waiting for probate court to get back to us.
