Fire Lowers Armor

EDIT: Problem Solved (Removed the conditions when modifying levels. These conditions were used on a previous calculation method)

Effect Desired: When a unit takes damage from fired-based spells it applies the BURN status for up to 5 seconds. While under a BURN, the unit's armor is decreased by an amount equal to 10% of the damage received. If you take damage from a fire-based spell again while under a BURN the duration of the BURN is reset and the armor penalty accumulates with all previous instances of damage caused by fire spells. If the BURN wears off, the armor penalty will be reset to 0. Any further instances of an armor penalty will have to resume from the next fire-based spells once a new BURN is applied.

Problem: Currently I am using 2 fire spells, fire spell 1 deals 60 damage to a single target, and fire spell 2 deals 40 damage to an area. The armor penalty is applied using 3 item armor bonus effects with negative values (10 levels each with values ranging from 1-9, 10-90, and 100-900). Every time I cast fire spell 1 it should essentially reduce armor by 6, and fire spell 2 should reduce armor by 4. The penalty stacks up nicely when I cast the same spell on the same target multiple times (fire spell 1 lowers armor by 6, then 12, then 18, etc and fire spell 2 lowers armor by 4, then 8, then 12, etc). The problem arises when I alternate between these two spells. If I first use fire spell 1 it reduces armor by 6 as it should. When I follow up with fire spell 2 it should bring the armor penalty to 10, but instead it decreases armor by 10 bringing the penalty up to 16. Conversely, if I start with fire spell 2 it reduces armor by 4 as it should but when following it up with fire spell 1 it brings the penalty to 14. I'm not sure why it decreases armor by 10 instead of decreasing armor to 10. So this is where I need your help.

Variables:
zz_intga (integer): Represents the level of DEF Penalty 9
zz_intgb (integer): Represents the level of DEF Penalty 90
zz_intgc (integer): Represents the level of DEF Penalty 900

damagingunit (unit): The unit with the MARK - BURN ability which will trigger this event
damagedunit (unit): The unit who takes damage
damageamount (real): Damaged received from a unit with the MARK - BURN ability
