Hi everybody! At first, sorry for my English :)
I'm proud to present you my first serious map. Well, it's not 100% mine. This was an old forgotten TD map from RoC which I randomly chose to open in Editor someday just to check if it's protected. It wasn't, so I edited it a bit to make it more playable for me and my friend. ~1 year later I started serious editing and for now only terrain and most of creeps are left from original version. I've completely remade triggers and all the stuff. It took me dozens of hours, so I hope it will be worth your attention.

That's a classic TD map. You and your partner must stop enemy from reaching other side of map. There are 5 teams of 2. Each team can leak max. 25 creeps. Well, oldschool.

  • Peons' Tower - used to recruit new builders
  • Basic Tower - attacks land and air - 40-70 dmg
    Upgrades to:
  • Archer Tower - attacks land and air - 75-125 dmg
  • Advanced Archer Tower - attacks land and air - 250-300 dmg
  • Cannon Tower - long range splash damage - attacks land only - 125-225 dmg
  • Advanced Cannon Tower - long range splash damage - attacks land only - 250-350 dmg
  • Flame Tower - attacks land and air - 400-800 dmg
  • Sky-Fury Tower - attacks air only - 800-1600 dmg
  • Ice Tower - ice splash damage (slows land enemy in AoE, air single target only) - attacks land and air - 300-700 dmg
  • Poison Tower - good range and attack speed - poison attack - poisoned enemy is 25% slower and takes 100dmg/s (lasts 20 sec.) (stacks) - attacks land only - 30-80 dmg
  • Splash Tower - the biggest AoE splash damage - attacks land only - 100-300 dmg
  • Web Tower - web ability - webbed units are not able to move for 12 sec. (11 sec. cooldown) (800 range) - attacks land and air - 50-100 dmg

What I need now is:
  • your feedback. I need it like hell.
  • a volunteer who would make a preview image for me (I mean better one) :(
  • help in catching linguistic errors
Map seems to be very unpopular on Battle.net. It's very hard to make even 2v2 game now. A few months ago I had no problem with hosting full house on older version (which I don't even upload, lol). What's up with bnet? :(

Well, I'm waiting for your feedback. I also thought it would be great if I had a nice minimap preview image. Maybe lack of this is a reason for fast leaving of ppl after join.
Anyway, I need you to make this map better.

I havent tested the map yet, but by the Screenshots it looks very classic and good.

However, could you give more info on the gameplay?
What makes this different? What will make players want to play this?
It needs to be exciting and different.

Well, features:
- Advanced multiboard storing stats etc.
- "Best Killer" feature which I'm planning to extend to something like achievements system
- SinglePlayer mode
- Classic TD style which is fun itself
- Simple and optimized map's engine which lets me make updates very fast and easily (only 40 triggers [6 of them are periodic texts] with 44 variables)
- A lot of other mini features that make this map more playable (kick system, anti-stuck, selling etc.)

Well, I think people like this map. They even ask about rmk very often. But most of them leave 10 sec. after join. If they decided to join, they must like Tower Defense maps. I think I really need custom minimap preview image :(

Ok, lets take a look at screenshots. This time from real gameplay:




As you can see multiboard is very... interactive?

There is also ability to change team name (I changed it to "n00bs" in that game). I thought it would be fun. But no one wants to use it :(

Looks fairly interesting, I will host it online when I get home.

How many are in each team?
Will give feedback tomorrow.

Bad luck on those leavers on your server, most players on mine are quite decent, so I wont have that problem.
I'l give suggestions and criticism when I can. Gw

Ah a Duo Team TD, nice.


They leave in game lobby. That's why I think it's minimap preview image's fault.
I've had problems like that in the past with my maps. However people know my minigames to be good so its not too bad. Just get your map recognized abit.

That would definately help if you want me to do extensive testing.

Okay, am testing it for the first time.

Initial things noticed:
-DC with missing players
-Lag at start of each wave
-Advanced Cannon Tower projectile is not homing (looks alil odd as it doesnt always hit the units and kinda sprays away abit)
-Lack of different towers

Sorry that was just initial thoughts, have been kinda short on time lately and havent been able to do a detailed inspection yet.
Will give thoughts as soon as possible.

Thats not a normal bug btw, I add/remove units on my maps without lag.
You just need to check your triggers, and well if the units have abilities added, they must be preloaded properly.

UPDATE!

Sorry for 5 days absence. I'm back with released BETA4 now!
The most important new thing here is fixed disconnecting when there was a gap between players on players list in game lobby. It was necessary because of map's engine, but I spent a lot of time to rewrite it a bit (needs intensive testing). Spawn lag fixed (well, reduced a lot*) too.

Added a lot of improvements and fixed a lot of minor bugs.

UPDATE!

Fifth beta version of FiveTeam TD Reborn is out!

  • Reworked gold sending system
  • Balanced creep waves a bit (mainly air; swapped with ground so there is bigger gap between airs)
  • Added minimap preview image
  • Fixed Ice and Splash towers' issues
  • Fixed many minor bugs and memory leaks
  • Much more! (forgot :p)

Could you possibly include a list of the waves in the first post?

Possibly if you want to improve that Opening Post info, add the costs and build times to the Towers.
A question on those Build Times, are they constant (if so, what are they?) or are they different dependant on Tower?
Does Web Tower affect Bosses? Is not possible to spam Web Towers?
Does your frost stack with your poison slow?

Your basic towers seem fairly balanced.

Perhaps more upgrades for the other Towers? (eg upgrading the slow amount of duration on poison or slow Towers etc)
Just an idea.

BUILDING is constant and it lasts two seconds. UPGRADING not and it's usually about 5-10sec.

Does Web Tower affect Bosses? Is not possible to spam Web Towers?
Yes. And now I see it shouldn't. 29th level is only 12 units. 12x25 = 300 gold and you are done :)

Don't really know. :/
Frost attack from Ice Tower uses native ability in which I don't even see freeze rate variable. Well, I will have to fix it in BETA6.

Oh, I didn't know that. That's fine then. Otherwise when there is like 2 or 3 bosses it would be a problem.


Yeah, I'm thinking about it at the moment. First I have to play a few games on Bnet. :)
I will host it on my SA server on the weekend and gain alittle more feedback. Expect it to be negative though, not many fans of old school TDs lol.

    We have been getting crazy numbers reported by the forum of people online the bots are going crazy on us I think it is AI training bots going at it at least that is what it looks like to me.

    Most legit traffic is tracked on multiple Analytics and we have Cloud Flare setup to block a ton of stuff but still there is large amount of bots that seem to escape detection and show up in the user list of the forum. I have been watching this bullshit for a year and still cannot figure it out it is drving me crazy lol.
