floppy trouble i need a final answer

i just (for the first time)put togeather a p4vmm2 motherboard w/ all the stuff ie. hd's ,cd's,dvd's and so on .well them i came to the most simple one ,or i thought ,,,the floppy drive .. the bios says its there , but win xp pro does'nt see it .and ive tried every thing ive got half a dozen of the things laying around not one will work , once i put it in ..i asked a few people about it they said check the cables,,so i did what the heck im not perfect,,no good,one would say "make sure the red stripe is on the #1 pin" ..and another one said "make sure the red stripe
is on the said the power is plugged in to".some of my floopys have it both ways,the #1 pin is away from the power plug in..so you tell me which is it ??thats my first question..#2 is does it matter at which end the braided end on the floppy cable goes ,either to the board or to the drive...
one last thing the light stays on the floppy all the time ..thanks for your help...

Well a floppy drive needs a power cable (a little dinky 4 pin connector) and a floppy IDE cable, i'm not sure on the exact name of what they're called, but it looks like a smaller IDE cable.

On the motherboard the floppy IDE cable should be plugged into the motherboard at the connector, it should look exactly like where an IDE cable would connect to, except not as many pins (smaller).

You should try a floppy boot disk and see if it runs(it will run before windows boots up), if it doesn't run then you have a bad floppy drive, no worries they are only like $5. Oh and make sure all the dust is blown out of the inside of the floppy drive, mostly if your computer has been in a highly dusty area.

    this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.

    One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs

    Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.

    Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
