Working on a puzzle game for windows phone. This would be the start menu, its just a mock up. the game is mostly done, but We are trying to give it some style.
What one do you like the best, and do you have any suggestions.
The 1st lilypad title screen as well as the 3rd last title screen that you have displayed are the best, I think. Both are very clean and typical - in a good way - of other free online games.
I think the 5th and 6th have the least tacky design there, though I understand this is just an early draft. In terms of layout, I agree with fatmankev that those have a clean classic feel.
I like the frog in the background - the last two - though if I saw like a final artist's rendering of the frogs in front I might like them more than I do now, ha.
But overall, I like how the 4th, 5th, and 6th have either the logs or lily pads as text boxes. Makes it more interesting than just having text on the background or on a plain text box. I like the backdrop for the 5th and 6th, it fits in with the lily pads. The other backgrounds I find tacky.
On a separate note, you ever think about getting these games on different devices? Like I would love to play your roller coaster game on either Android or an iPhone or something as I don't have a Windows 8 phone.
K ill relay all of this feed back to my brother who is doing most of the design work on the main menu and theme. I built made a few of the mock ups though.
The first one may look a little tacky. but Its pretty clean. and has the "less is more attitude" but the two you guys like, show a bit more personality. I just feel we didn't do a good enough job on them, so its safer to have a simpler start menu. But I don't know.
My younger bro the one with lilipads, I made the 2nd one. Ill give him your feed back, and let him decide what to do.

Frog Jam: (the puzzle game your looking at above).
Is written in c# fine for andiord or iphone, but the front end is entirely Silverlight, So I would have to redue that completely. not a Huge amount of work, as I would just push it to mono, that's pretty much warped xna. We do hower plan to push it to win8, as the only difference is going to be a few menu items. We might push it to standard Silverlight and host it on a webpage as well.
Roller Coaster:
It has some bugs I need to fix, on windows phone version, as it has a sliverlight/xna mix, and I am doing something wrong with the two techs on top of each other. But my windows verison of rc, (all the same but the UI), would port with Mono, to android very easy.
Its been dying on the windows phone, due to them changing how the top apps work, its now not only by downloads but by crashing, and my app has a bug that crashing it a lot. So it droped me from 1 to 200. After the update to how they handle ranking in the windows phone market place.
It still has a ways to go, like achievement's, share your coaster with others online. And Sound.
But If I ever get back and finish that, then I intend to push it to android using mono.
Looking back, Attempting to do roller coaster alone, was a bad move. Its too big of a project for me to do right solo, as I got to burnt out on it.
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
