I have a C-Media 8738 sound card in a newly upgraded system which has a dual game port that will not install. AMD Athlon XP 2800, ABIT NF7-2S Motherboard, 1 GB of Corsair RAM and Windows XP PRO. The OEM drivers install okay, and the sound portion of the card works fine. However in the Device Driver area, the game port properties indicate that it is trying to use memory address 201-201, and that is not available. Apparently that is fixed either by the card or the motherboard, as there is no option to try other memory addresses. It also reflects a code 12 - could not find enough available resources to install. I have tried removing other installed hardware with no effect. Checked all hardware memory addresses and none use the 201-201 address, in fact the motherboard resources do not reflect this address as available anywhere. Since I can't change the address manually, I am in a catch 22! Anyone know what determines the 201-201 setting - motherboard bios, Windows, or the card?
Would appreciate any ideas anyone has on this problem!
Thanks
