Looks pretty cool. I can't wait for me to get invited or for it to go open.

I think I'll delete my facebook account when that happens.

Check it out here.

I don't think it will ever take off, solely based upon the name alone. I haven't even looked at it yet.

Woot. Just got an invite. People are giving them out all over.

No real reason it shouldn't take it off. It does everything facebook does (better) and a shitload more. Not to mention to integration with Android phones, that's a huge userbase already.

Looks like I have invites, if anyone wants one PM me your email. I'm giving them to RL friends as priority though.

People get mad when Facebook changes where they type in their status, and create hundreds of "BRING BACK OLD FACEBOOK" pages. Do you really think the infinite amount of people that use FB are going to change over their infinite amounts of photos etc just for the sake of "new stuff", which they happen to hate anyways? I personally don't think so. People are too ignorant and closed minded for this stuff. I'm sure hipster guys from California will be all over Google+ (crap name), but 16 year old high schooler won't even know it exists.

Its like people who listen to MP3s on foobar2000 instead of iTunes, but don't get me started on that.

Or I'm an idiot and it becomes huge, who knows...

I'm with you on that. I just don't see this taking off. Why change sites when you don't have to? Unless they offer a ton of new features, theres no reason to leave whats already established.

I like how you can separate your friend groups a lot better.

HAHA.

That actually might be a reason to switch over. Also, is the interface any better from what you've all seen?

Yea I like it. You can't post on people's walls (there are no walls) as far as I can see, but since you can customize who sees your posts, the same thing can be achieved from the wall.

Making circles and whatnot is very easy and intuitive.

Invites are open again, btw.

edit. Invites gone again.

Actually, I'm 17, thank you very much. Haha, but I'm also very technically inclined (and have 607 rep on TheHelper!) which basically makes me better than most other high schoolers (no offense to any members :) ).

Backing him up on this one, pretty much the same story, except with lower rep count ^_^

im a 16 year old high schooler and i know it exists D:
and my 497 rep > 607 FYI (less is more, right? right.....?)

personally i dont use facebook often at all, so i dont think i will make an account on it. then again i plan on not doing a lot of stuff at the beggining but do it in the end anyway so who knows. it seems like its getting pretty big and well known already though, its all over many different websites that i've been to. failbook has some google+ fails already.

i see a lot of hipsters switching over at first and once it becomes big they'd be all like "i was here first why is everyone copying me"

I'm on it, and so far I do not like it too much. Doesn't seem like it really flows very easy, it's fairly cluttered at the moment.

that sucks i bet they are expensive
  • Varine Varine:
    Not really
  • Varine Varine:
The entire hot end is like 20 dollars, I just can't get anymore until next week
  • Varine Varine:
I ordered like five blocks for 15 dollars. They're just little aluminum blocks with holes drilled into them
  • Varine Varine:
They are pretty much disposable. I have shitty nozzles though, and I don't think these were designed for how hot I've run them
  • Varine Varine:
I tried to extract it but the thing is pretty stuck. Idk what else I can use this for
  • Varine Varine:
I'll throw it into my scrap stuff box, I'm sure can be used for something
  • Varine Varine:
I have spare parts for like, everything BUT that block lol. Oh well, I'll print this shit next week I guess. Hopefully it fits
  • Varine Varine:
I see that, despite your insistence to the contrary, we are becoming a recipe website
  • Varine Varine:
    Which is unique I guess.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
