Has anyone else heard about This?(StarTools)

Apparently upon the first time we sit down and play Starcraft II, we'll also be able to use something called Startools that lets users create and modify doodads.

Here's a link to the wiki with the info.

And here's a link to the following paragraph(as proof):

"Technical artist McNaughton then takes the stage and explains how the studio uses a handful of primary art tools to create its games; there is Adobe Photoshop for texture art, 3D Studio Max for its low-polygon models, and Mudbox for its high-polygon models, as well as its own proprietary toolsets, such as "Startools," to create in-game objects such as trees and other "doodads," and "Scumedit," the updated map editor. McNaughton also points out that Startools and Scumedit will be part of the map- and mod-making tools that will ship with the game."

I'm pretty excited about this. What do you guys think? The article states that they use this very same program to create their doodads, so I can only hope we have the patience to learn all that we're going to be offered in the coming months.

That is quite amazing, all the extra sub-programs Blizzard is implenting into the Galaxy Editor in comparison with the WC3 World Editor. I will finally be able to create the maps I always wanted to create in WC3 without having too much resistance due lack of experience (yay \o/).

And we can finally do SO MUCH without complex difficult programs, and annoying huge triggers to do anything

Stuff like FPS mode is a flick of a option

Where did you hear this? I just want to know I'm not exploding with excitement for nothing. ^^

Just do research, and read every bit of info.

I stick my nose into every new info that gets leaked or released. Though I'm not current with anything. (Been over a month since I checked into it much I think? with exception of last week)

I'm not sure if the model editor will be as powerful as third part program ones, but I'm sure this will be good enough and less of a pain, it will prob have stuff like custom coloring, Hero glows, Switch heads, bodies, weapons, armor, legs, etc.

They will NOT include an extra editor, they will include tools wich I think will probably be part of the main Editor and/or will not be big enough to be called an editor itself.

Yah... I mean with what I saw on the uberlisk I hope we can replicate. I wouldn't mind a custom battle cruisers with turrets on it's underbelly. I think that would be quite cool. :)

I wish we got more information on that. If the things can be rotated or if they are just kind of slapped on...

Since they are telling us that you can change weapons and stuff ingame, I think you can use multiple weapons on single units. (and probably weapons that shoot without the main unit being used)

I'd guess you can just create units (or unit parts) wich you can attach to attachment points on other units. The bullets with hitpoints (the uberlist video) supports my theory ([mappers view]I hope they got hitpoints and not just some alive/dead value[/mappers view])!

I don't think it will be a model editor because if it was, why would it have to be only doodads?

Because doodads often dont have much animations e t c, units takes more animations, thereby more complicated.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
