Has anyone here used IE10 Metro in Windows 8 to view the forums?

I'm just curious, and slightly sad that the Xenforos can't be used with the Metro apps. Even vBulletin can't work well with Metro apps.

So, this will probably be a thread about the possible changes Xenforos will add in the near future, in order to be compatible with the new IE10 Metro app.

Simple fix: Use firefox.

Firefox is not going to cut it. My hard drive is maxed out, leaving only 3 MB available on my 20GB partition. I can't believe that this maxed out, and it's working fine. And now 20GB is maxed out, I can't even store temporary internet files and cookies. Basically, it won't install for me.

There was an article stating the recommended hard drive space is 25GB for x64 OS. My problem is my hard disk is full of other stuff, and I have to put off reformatting, because I don't want to 100% completely rely on Win8 just yet.

Its says you have 23 gigabyte free.

But maybe your problem is neither IE nor Firefox but a too small hard drive mister.

you can use firefox portable on a different disk - no need to install

I hate the metro IE though.. the standard windowed one would be OK.. except I gave up on windows 8 and now only have server 2012.. which I used I.E. only to download firefox, since every single webpage that was on the internet needed to be "approved" as safe by default (and installing firefox was easier than finding the setting to turn that off)

I'll try maintaining my budget as much as I can. Since I have Windows 8 dual-booted with Windows 7, I can switch back and forth between the two, so it's no worries.

But I'm still curious to who else had Windows 8. This will be a topic for General Discussions then.

Isn't Safari the Apple browser? I'll try and see if they are happy.

can't you just re-size your partitions via gparted or similar? that or use Firefox portable on a different partition

Unfortunately, I only have one 80GB hard drive, with 56.93GB used up. I don't even have a CD drive.

Anyway, I am still able to use Windows 8 on a 10GB partition. Just turn off the constantly nagging pop up telling you about the lack of space. It will do until I can convince my parents to take out another hard drive from another work PC.

I use it, but was more used to chrome. so I went back. But then chrome got somthign nasty in it, not sure what happened, and the reset for chrome didn't seem to fix it, so I been using IE 10 Its fast and slick for everything I do. I mostly stick to the one on windows desktop. I use the metro IE some times but not to often.

  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
