having trouble with the pick up archer ability

For a map that I am working on, I designed a more powerful night elf archer unit, which I called an elite archer. I was hoping
to be able to have that unit mount a hippogryph and form an elite version of the hippogryph archer.

So the first thing I tried to do was create a custom ability based on the 'Pick Up Archer'. Unfortunately, when I did that, the necessary data fields (resulting unit type and partner unit) dissappeared from the ability. So, instead i copied the 'Pick up Archer' ability and changed the original instead (the unaltered custom ability works exactly like the original; i tested it). After doing that, I gave the hippogryph both the unaltered custom ability and the modified original 'Pick up Archer'. When I test it in the game, however, only one ability appears in the hippogryph's command card (the original modified one). I have changed the ability position coordinates so that they do not overlap and still only the modified original ability shows up.


Was wondering if anybody could help?

the problem stems from the fundamental ability/spell logic in war3, in that you can't give a single unit more than one ability based off the same ability. its an unfortunate fact of life I'm afraid...

btw, the data fields disappearing when you make a custom ability is a known bug in the editor. many other abilities are plagued from this exact same problem.
