Headphones not playing sound

Hi there,

I have speakers plugged into my desktop in the rear port, and headphones in the front port. The speakers work fine, but the headphone do not. I cannot get any sound to play through the headphones despite them being recognised by the computer and set to the default device. I'm on Win10 by the way. I have looked this up online and have found no solution. Does anyone have any ideas? It would be a great help

If you unplug the speakers do the headphones work then? What about if you plug them into where the speakers are plugged in? Do the speakers have a headphone jack?

Is the volume turned up for that device in the audio settings?

I had this exact problem when I reformatted my PC with W10. There was two solutions offered when I looked it up. Delete your audio driver software and allow W10 default software to manage things or if you are lucky find an update for your current driver software. The former fixed my issue when the latter proved to be non-viable.
