Help around "expansion" in region of chaos

When using the world editor for Region of Choas, it saves as an expanison file and i don't even have the expansion. I do think it is a protected map but is there a way around it? NO IM NOT TRYING TO STEAL THE MAP...

same thing happens to me and i dont think its protection its that some people use the TFT editor and know people who can change the format.

so what your saying is when u save a map you make it saves it into the frozen throne version????

I opened someone elses game and saved it (in RoC) it excepted it as a RoC file but when i save it, it wants to save as a TFT Expansion file?!?!

RoC Extension is .w3m
TFT Extension is .w3x

Im getting the TFT extenesion!

yeah blizzard screwed up big-time on that one. They went and flagged various RoC-related things as being TFT-specific objects, which of course has made RoC mappers frustrated, since they go to save their RoC maps without changing anything and suddenly they find its become a TFT map.

is your map a TD map by chance? I could probably suggest at least one thing to try.

yep.

one of your towers is likely to be using the projectile weapon art that is normally used by the orc catpult, its basically a boulder. I can't remember the exact name of the model file, but that should at least give you something to investigate.

You cannot use that particular projectile weapon art anymore, you have to change it to something else.

So if you can find out which of your towers fires out boulders, you can go about solving this problem.

Also, i've found if you use abilities as towers or projectiles, it likes to save in w3x

havent hapend for me :O i use alot of abilites (or i did on some maps 4 funn) as wepon projectiles.

Argh... this jsut happened to me. It's my Capture the flag, it's been working five for about 15 saves, then suddenly it converted to .w3x
Unfortunately for me, I didn't notice it at all until I saved it over the backup and the other version... Is there any way to convert it back?
EDIT: I found out that the Death Coil as a unit model will sometimes cause the error. I changed that unit model in my CTF and it went back instantly.
(Convenient way to check is the Object Manager. -Not the Object Editor- The second line down on the first tab tells you if it needs expansion or not.)
