Help bf1942 multiple issues

Hello,

Looks like you guys know a lot more about issues than the eatechsupport folks. Not say they are bad they just give the same resolutions that don't seem to work.

First off my system is a : sony Vaio pcv660
Intel p4 1.8
512 megs of pc2100 ddr ram
asus geforce 4 ti 4600 128
40x cdrw
mobo I believe is an intel but which one I am unsure.


Problems:
System will lock when loading up maps in between missions.
Sometimes when the game runs the video will cut out and go to a black screen and just sit there, no desktop nothing.

What I did...
Updated video drivers to most current one from Asus and one from Nvidia (both not certified by ms yet).
Updated mobo firmware to current ver.
Ran dxdiag and everything seemed to check out.
Installed patch 1.3
uninstalled and reinstalled the game ......
still the same problems

Any ideas what is going on....please help
