Help me! Virus Problem

I recently got a virus called Worm_SPYBOT.gen I deleted the file it first infected, but then a couple hours later the same virus appeared infecting a different file. Is there anyway to stop it from coming back? Please help me if you can.

Hm, I did a search on Symantec's Antivirus site for it and I came up empty.

What Antivirus program is telling you it's a virus?

I also have the worm_spybot.gen. as it is named by Trend Micro,
and I am getting more and more confused. I clean it out and as the scan comes to an end, my system is infected again, the scan goes on and on... I have downloaded the latest updates from Trend Micro, but nothing helps. No one else detects this "virus", so what do we have? A real problem or what? I had Panda Titanium installed, but it gave no sign of this infection, neither did or does AVG virus. So what gives. I have no idea.

Ah ha. I searched Trend's site and found it.

Did you do everything as outlined on this page to get rid of it:

The instructions are very detailed on what to do to remove it from your system.

If not, then what it does, and what installs it is listed below from the Trend site:

This is Trend Micro's detection for several variants of the Spybot malware.

This malware is both a worm and a backdoor. It spreads through the Kazaa peer-to-peer file sharing network. It also acts as a backdoor and connects to certain IRC or Internet Relay Chat servers. Via IRC, it is able to receive commands from remote users to process on compromised machines.

This worm runs on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP systems.

Translation: If you downloaded anything from Kazaa, you probably got it that way. Do what it states on the webpage to get rid of it.

PS: If you have done a scan and it still resides somewhere, I would suggest following the manual steps outlined on the webpage above to get rid of it. Reboot after you perform all of the manual steps.

You got the thing from kazaa. If you did, then you should uninstall kazaa and get kazaa lite at http://www.kazaalite.tk/

Also, to prevent stuff from kazaa (sometimes even kazaalite has viral stuff), try to get norton antivirus 2003, and use its auto-protect thing (this thing really works, prevented a win32 virus from entering from my kazaalite) and also get all the norton updates.

Well I did have the Worm_SPYBOT.gen virus but just follow the manual instructions on trend micros web site. So far after 3 days it hasn't been detected.
