Help Me With Half Life...PLEASE

I have Windows XP and it is telling me that there is a compatibility issue. Can someone help me? I don't know what to do

Have you visited the Windows Update Site lately ? Be sure you download the compatibility update pack.

Thanks alot for the help but it did not work. The game says i need to update the version to 1.1.1.0 (I think). Where would I do this?

In your Half-Life directory, there should be a file called updater or something similar. Run that and choose a server to download the patch.

Unfortunately I am obviously not in the zone as i can't seem to find the patches on the website. But that is my problem now, thanks guys (um, I mean guy)

The patches for Half-Life and it's mods are rather hard to find indeed. You should download and run this file. It will give you a list of sites serving the patch you need. Good Luck.

yep Sierra has a weird way of linking to patches-- I noticed then when I was trying to patch SWAT3

Thanks again and again guys. This certainly is very strange as I have already done what you have advised. When I use the auto updater and irt takes me to websites, the patches in question seem veruy hard to find. I tried to do what nonamereqired suggested but had already been down that road to no avail. I would also like to say thank you to noname and the organisers as it was pleasant to be taken seriously over a relatively trivial matter. Its good to see that you understand and appreciate that there are beginners out here to.

you ain't kidding this is hard to find, almost all the lists of servers they have on there don't even have the file. I just got half-life and i'm updating to 1.0.1.1, man large file, trying to find a fast server that's close to me, not many there, since i live in montana.

the patches are a (insert swear word) for halflife .
i think alot of this (insert another swear word) has todo that waitplanet.com err fileplanet.com holds all the official patches for some (insert another offensive swear word) reason .

lately they bin patching like mad dunno if that messed up the auto installer

Well i've downloaded 3 times from 3 different servers, and get a wrong file size, so it won't update, i've tried fileplanet.com and got an EST of 3 hrs to d/l that patch, the other ones that have worked for me got done in less than 30 min.

I think i'm going to give up. heh
Anyways most people play CS, so i'll just go out and buy that and patch that up, should be easier then this... hopefully
