Help With A Horrible Problem!!!!!

Ok, when I try to log onto battle.net, it says something like this...

"your internet connection is either very poor, or is not processing UDP packets through port 6112. You will be able to chat, but will be unable to play games"

Now, heres some things you should know before you reply

-I have aol
-i do NOT have a firewall/proxy
-I have aol dsl, which means i have something called a 'broadband blaser'
-I called aol many times, and they said there was no problems with my dsl

So, I have no idea what to do...
 
Do you have any "parental restrictions" enabled within AOL?

I also assume you have a recent version of the AOL software.

try this

(while connected to internet)

go to START ---> RUN

type telnet chat.battle.net 6112

when the window comes up-- does it give a message about being unable to connect (or does it seem to freeze up?)

try typing a LOWERCASE c into this window -- does it prompt you for a login name?

Yea, it told my to type in "anonymous" because i didnt have a name/password
what should i do now?

Are you sure your modem doesn't have a built-in firewall?

i have windows 98
i dont have a firewall
this just started happening a week ago, for no reason
i was able to go onto bnet the past year just fine
 
the telnet thing was a troubleshooting step to see if you can connect to b.net on that port - and you can

so we know that TCP traffic is ok, but your problem seems to be with UDP traffic.

If you are sure you have no firewall/internet sharing etc on your side then the problem has to be with AOL....Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to make sure your network is not restricting UDP or TCP/IP packets on Port 6112.

You already called them and got nowhere but the guy answering the phone likely won't know anything about this or battle.net so of course he'll tell you everything is working ok

If the traffic is suddenly being blocked and you have changed NOTHING on your side, then it isn't something you can fix.

    I did do a rare thing for me and hire a girl last month without warning. Everyone was made at me because I started her at like 21, but she worked with me before and I was like don't care. She made 19 at her old job and I wanted her to come work with me, she is the best

She can do it no problem, I've worked with her there.

    They won't get feel down while they do the thermometer, but we didn't have an instant read probe when I was learning. Like they did but god knows how off it is, you HAD to do it by feel. Even if the chef was fine with me bringing my own, it takes too long. Poke and know

    I recently had an experience with a waiter that really brought down @Varine's point about them being in sales. The first waiter just asked "anything else? deserts?" and when the table shook their head said "ok" and left. Then the other waiter came in and started going off describing the deserts and you could see the heads turning, and they finally got a bunch of deserts
