Okay if anyone can PLEASE tell me how to make my hero glow the color of the player who buys him from the tavern, I will come to your house and hug you. I have tried everything.

Now I am beginning to wonder that there must be a better way of transferring data from one map to another. I havn't been transferring much just an ability here or there, but I am getting tired of opening one map, copying an ability, opening another map, and pasting the ability. I then would need to reopen the first map to get a second ability...you get the picture. Now, I tried exporting three abilities, and I then imported them into import manager on my other map, but how do i get them IN the abilities list of the object editor. When I do import ability data, it replaces all my ability data with ALL the ability data of the last map, not just the three I want. How do I get just the three I want?

Not to sure about glow but maybe with the import/export thing you could just import ablities as you did, but then just "copy" them from your import list to your ablities list. sort f like how you were doing iot before except doing more then one at a time.. a least saving a bit of time if that workz..

It's quite easy to transfer data in the object editor from map to map. Go to the EXPORT OBJECT DATA command under the File menu of the object editor. This saves the data of everything in the object editor. From that map, go to your other map, open the object editor, and load your data by going to File>Import Object Data.

I also belive if you have WEU you can change the hero glow via trigger.

Note that importing Object data overwrites the previous data, since it reaplces the .doo file.

The hero glow color is the color of the player. It also depends on the unit's stats. There is a feild for color in the Unit Editor, and if it' set to Match Owning Player, their color should be the same as the player that owns them. Also note that ALL nuetral players are of the color grey.

Thanks for the info, but I don't think that will work. As you said, I would be importing ALL object data. That would be bad...I only want to pick and choose but not ONE at a time. As for exporting them and then copying them into abilities list, there is no such way to copy. I guess you can only copy one thing at a time, or import ALL data at once. That is very silly to me.

You're right there is a trigger for hero glow in WEU, but I can't get it to work. I have, when a unit sells a unit, and the unit is my custom hero, then add hero glow to sold unit. This should include tavern and altar selling my hero to anyone and applying glow to it. I don't know if it'll do the right color but it does nothing so it must not be right. What is wrong with that trigger?

Conan I believe you are talking about making a standard hero's color match the player's color. That is all well and good, but my custom hero has no glow to adjust. That is what it needs )=

Thanks for trying to help guys hehe.

I think that glow is part of the model itself. Don't think you can just attach it to anything.

Hmm I wonder why I need to download glow packs if that is the whole reason i downloaded WEU. Oh well, I will try this. One concern comes to mind here though. I can make the icon for this dummy ability none, but will it still disrupt other abilities if theyre in the same button position? I'm thinkin it will because I've read time and agian that only five abilities can be given to a hero. If you could simply delete the icons and add more, then there would be no limit. If it comes down to it tho, this will suffice and thanks for the tip.

Some people use lil wisps and attach em to all the main areas it should have hero glow. Use the human ability 'Sphere' (Take off missle info) and change model to a wisp and attachments can be something like chest and weapon. It wont look as good but theres no imports required and I think it automatically takes the team color

Or well to make "Glow" just make a channel ability thats not visible with a buff that adds "aura" effect wich makes unit Have Aura Circle around it. Well maybe thats not what you wanted. Or if you want the glow to be short one, like only a few seconds after something sells something, try making special effect at position of selling unit.

Well I did try making special effect at sold unit position, but no cigar. I am on the verge of giving up. this is sad. And i cant even find glow packs or glow anything on that website. the search gives me nothin, and there is no link for effects. )= If you could tell me where it is thatd b coo.

thanks

Its easy :)

Code:
E: Your event
C: Any condition
A: Advanced - Add hero glow to *Your Unit*

It will automatticaly change the glow color to teh player color

(You need WEU)

It will automatticaly change the glow color to teh player color

(You need WEU)

Also need Advanced - Initialize advanced triggers, and the advanced triggers option selected in enhancer ;)

I thought it would be as easy as that, but this event/condition is a tricky one. I don't know how to do it. I thought this would work but it didn't.

Hero Glow
Events
Unit - A unit Sells a unit
Conditions
(Unit-type of (Sold unit)) Equal to Shadow Warlock
Actions
Advanced - Add hero glow to (Sold unit)

I need him to glow right when he appears on the map from being bought at the tavern for any player who buys him. Ohhh what if I said, unit enters entire map...why didn't I think of that sooner. That has GOT to work!

Didn't work. I am absolutely out of ideas, I have tried everything.

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
