Help with the play disc please?

OK, all I want to do is install single player mode. So I do. Then, when I go to play the game, it's says that damned phrase, "INSERT THE PLAY DISC". It's already in. I've tried patches, I've tried all BLIZZARD TECH SUPPORT stuff. It all has failed me. I'm beggining to assume that it may be the files on the CD. Maybe the game.exe. I'm not sure. If you know how to fix it so it will run, please help!

if you have tried everything listed on their site, the problem is not with the CD

The problem is that your CD drive is not compatible with Blizzard's ridiculous copy protection (which was designed by a 3rd party company). There ain't much you can do about it except:
1) Hope Blizzard eventually fixes it
2) Buy a new (or old, used) CD ROM drive

if you have a CDR or DVD drive, they seem to have the most problems.

You can also try one of the older versions of the patch since they worked for some people [the newest patch works for more people but screws up some people who it worked for before]

how can i check to see it is compatible, what can i look at to see what kind of drive or whatnot i have?

you would probably have to open up the case and look for a sticker

its obviously not compatible because it doesn't work

most models work, but many don't

still when i had my cd-rom drive in my old hard drive it worked and now i get the same problem he has with the please insert CD in CD-ROM drive, i dont think it is the CD-ROM drive
