Hey, Orc Rush! TFT model problem fixed!

Man! I've finally found the way of using TFT models!
Do the following:
1 Download WinMPQ
2 Open "War3x.mpq"
3 Look under "units/<race>/<name>/<name>.mdx", for example, the Warden: units/nightelf/herowarden/herowarden.mdx and the Maiden of Pain: units/demon/demonessblue/demonessblue.mdx.
4 Type it under "Custom Models" and look at the left margin and see if the model is correct.
5 Done!
It takes a bit of time but when you're into it, it is really fun. You can also change the portrait (button) and projectiles in the same way!

are you sure your using a legit copy? you definitely dont have to do that with a normal copy.

I'm not sure because I have the proper CD key and I installed TFT using a proper version that I got from the shop which cost me $69.95NZ and I cracked it using VB6 then returned the CD for a refund. I can go onto Battle.net w/o problems so it must be a legal version.
If it is not, whatever then...everything works...just fine!

hmm I hope you realise someone else is going to buy the copy you returned and thus there will be 2 of you using the same CD-key, leading to problems if you both want to go onto battle.net at the same time.

Like I said in some other thread, I need screenshots of your art - model file field before I can truly get a clue what is happening here.

haha i can't take screenshots cause my computer doesn't do screenies well for some reason, but i can explain it to you, i had the same problem.

The files simply aren't there for view.

You can choose all the origional roc units, and all the unit pallete layouts are the same, and the "campaign" unit drop down is completely blank other than the start location.

Everything else in the editor is normal.

But the units not only aren't in the palletes; they're not in the object editor either. They have a list of the units, like peasant, footman, knight, rifleman, mortar team, flying machine, steam tank, sorceress, priest, the water elemental, but there's no spell breakers

and you can't use their models for your own custom units either.

Unless you go to the object editor, double click on the art - model file field and type the exact name into the "custom" box.

Like for the bloodmage, i had to do this, and it took forever to find out what it was, because the blood mage isn't hero blood mage

first i used kael, and i guessed at that

units\human\kael\kael.mdl
that worked

then i finally got

units\human\herobloodelf\herobloodelf.mdl
and that worked. Hope that helped, i'll see if i can get you a screen anyway though

hmm I'm truly baffled, I've never seen any problems like this before. I do find it a bit hard to believe your computer can't take screenshots though, I have been able to do screenshots since way back in the Win95 days on low end Pentiums with generic video cards, I can't understand what could possibly prohibit you from doing them now. Are you sure you can't just give it a go anyway? I mean, hitting printscreen on your keyboard isn't exactly hard........
