Probably nobody around here has heard of this place before. 6sync is a VPS hosting company started up within the last couple of years and run by two very experienced Linux sysadmins who decided they wanted to branch out of just doing admin work and actually create a market a quality VPS product.
While I have not tried 6sync's VPSes myself, I have read many reviews about them and seen a number of benchmarks of their machines. 6sync has a rather tongue-and-cheek quality of presentation on their website where they refer to their VPSes as "biscuits" or "cookies". They use one of the newest virtualization technologies, KVM, to great effect. The benchmarks I have seen of their host nodes defeat those of any other provider, including Linode. In short, their stuff is fast. There is always a certain amount of trepidation that comes along with a newer company - are they going to make it, do they have the staff to adequately support their customers, and so on. I feel it, too. It's definitely a point to consider when picking a host. But I think in this case, 6sync has a strong showing - they have been growing tremendously over the past couple of years and continue to do so, even riding a bit on the demise of Slicehost that I talked about in an earlier post.
The quick and dirty:
PROS:
- Good support
- Fast machines
- Upbeat community - great for devs
CONS:
- Not (yet) a well-developed company
- Few add-ons like those provided by someone such as Linode - disk configurations, multiple data centers, load balancers, and so on.
