How do I do local area network battles?

Probably a really noobish question but how do i set up a local area network battle on warcraft 3? I have no idea how to do at all so any instruction would be great.

Depends on who you want to play with/against, really.
Do you and the other person share the same internet connection?

If no, you might want to try hamachi, lancraft or garena

I personally use garena.
Garena also supports other countries =)
(In fact, I think they support all regions except Antarctica)

Anyways, if you do choose the Garena route:
01) Install Garena
02) Register an account
03) Log in
04) Choose War3RPG
05) Choose a country's server
06) Join a room
07) Click the 'Start Game' button
08) Locate your WC3 folder
09) Wait for WC3 to start
10) Click on Local Area Network
11) Host a game or join someone else's hosted game
