The following is inspired by the article “It’s the future” from Circle CI. You can read the original here. This piece is just an opinion, and like any JavaScript framework, it shouldn’t be taken too seriously. No JavaScript frameworks were created during the writing of this article.

Hey, I got this new web project, but to be honest I haven’t coded much web in a few years and I’ve heard the landscape changed a bit. You are the most up-to date web dev around here right?

-The actual term is Front End engineer, but yeah, I’m the right guy. I do web in 2016. Visualisations, music players, flying drones that play football, you name it. I just came back from JsConf and ReactConf, so I know the latest technologies to create web apps.

As an active web dev, I can say while this accurately portrays a good bit of what's going on, part of the issue is people looking around and getting overwhelmed. Just grab what you need, carve out an app, and do it better next time. Learning is incremental.

Web dev is a mess. I just hope I will never have to deal with it but I fear I will some day have to.

I feel your pains.
Before i finished school I did a react project. and thought wow this is a mess with so many different dependency's to make the thing work.
I do prefer react but thats not the point.

anyway just yesterday i felt angular 2 was mature enough to dive into, but trying use that with asp.net or with asp.net core proved painful.
asp.net core has more built in tools then standard asp net to make it even realistic to do angular, but .net core is edge as well.

so finding samples that used the latest in both has been a pain.

Even mobile dev is often done using these js frameworks these days. so alot to learn. Trying to stay relevant in my field, and all these new js or existing js stacks make it alot of work.

At least I picked up typescript early on and did a few projects with it, so at the very least I can use that if i need to. and I picked up node.js as well.

Javascrpit is everywhere now days... I dont even like javascrpit but i am picking use use a js framework for mobile dev of xamerian that uses xmal and C# both things I am strong at as i feel the js frameworks make more sense. more code shareing ect...

I nearly went to a by weekly club that does JavaScript in the mesa just to try to keep up. (ended up not going due to Counter strike being more important after work)

    How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?

    The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats

    I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be

    Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that

    Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings

    And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that

    These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars

    Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality

    Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing

    Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such

    I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic

    I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.

    It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done

    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
