Well i've been messing around with the editor for quite some time now, flip flopping between potential ideas, never really completing anything.

In all of my produceless work, i've never really put that much thought into the terrain of my maps.

I decided to give it a go, even though creative terrain has never been my strong suit.

This is my first real attempt at making the ground you play on look nice, and i'd like to know what you guys think of it.

All comments are greatly accepted, whether they be negative or positive.

edit: umm sry guys, i think my computer is having a little trouble, the attachment doesn't wanna show up, i'll try agian tomorrow

Isn't it always a good thing when you decide to not just have ideas and actually produce something?

Glad since it means I can see another map or something :)

One word of advice. I noticed that when you first start out the terrain might not look all that real but just keep going and work around it. Because once you get a small area finished, you can mess with things and add things and make it look better. So just do it and not really thinking about it and then go back and make sure it looks real.

ya, i agree, it did look kinda bad at first, but personally i kind of like how it all came together.

keep in mind this is my first real attempt at making terrain look good

I think it sucks...just kidding. Nah, it looks good. I will, however, point out two little things.

1) Trees are to be snowy, not summer-style or fall-style. Otherwise, good job on their placement. I just hope the races don't need wood to build.

2) Your map is waaay too cramped. If you're aiming for a race map (I looked at the one trigger :)) you need room to build. And besides, not even units can usually go through paths and ramps that small without making something look strange. Make the map very big or something and give them wide open spaces of contruction here and there and then make maze paths at least twice as big and then it will look good.

So who will be these "Splitters" and "Morphers"?

As for the trees, i originally decided on those for the contrast, but i will most likely rethink that, because as you said they are a little out of place.

In the issue of space, it is very few units, not like a melee map, but it does seem a little small. Only problem is, making it a bigger map means redoing the terrain, it and took me quite some time to make this. The idea for what exactly my map be.. i really dont know.

I kind of plan to make 6 heros that each work in their own unique way.

i.e. one hero's form would change whenever he picks up certain items.

..... as i sit here thinking, my plans become less and less do able with this terrain, so i may well start from scratch

whether i use this or not, i would still love to continue to hear from the rest of the community here, if the general looks of it are any good.

edit: o yeah, about the splitters and morphers, the morpher is the hero who changes with the items he picks up, and the splitters was another little idea i had.

You start out with 1 unit with A LOT of health, but not very much dmg ( your king or queen) this unit can make other ones, that are more typical strength units, but strong

these units can split into two new units, each the same, that's added power is slightly greater than the unit they came from

this cycle would go on for maybe oh... 4 or 5 generations

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.

The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
