Installing Windows 7 from recovery partition

My PC (an Alienware Aurora, ordered from Dell) came pre-installed with a Windows 7 recovery partition and, after fiddling with partitions and Linux and what-not, the partition which had Windows 7 installed on it is blank. I installed Windows Vista 32bit as a stop-gap, just to tide me over for the time being, but I want to get Windows 7 re-installed ASAP.

I've been searching around with Google for some answer, but I get no answer that doesn't involve a Windows 7 installation disc (which I never received with the PC).

So, is it possible to re-install Windows 7 through this recovery partition (which is ~9GB in size, with 4GB in use according to My Computer) without having an install disc?

you need this

http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-79946/Win7-P-Retail-en-us-x64.exe

run the .exe and it will extract them for you, then you can make your own disk

those links are from the Digital River store where they sell win7 and those are their download links, but do a hash check if your paranoid

I don't know what alienware puts on their recovery partition, I suppose it would be possible, but then you still end up with their bloatware, while this way you can just delete that partition and have your own back-up, which is better anyways
