The sound of booming thunder echoed across the sky, startling and waking up a man. Tall, handsome, and fierce, he was well-known and respected throughout the land - and right now, he was in a bad mood.
The man sat up on his bed, stretching out his arms as he let out a low yawn. A single ray of light pierced the dim room through a strange, small, star-shaped window, illuminating one side of his face. He had not gone into town for many days, occupied with some unknown work of his, and it showed. A slight layer of facial hair was growing around his mouth, his black hair lay flattened and messy, and dark circles rested beneath his eyes. Still, one could make out the distinguishable and notably attractive features of his rugged yet charismatic face, the angular jaw and cheek, the mystifying blue eyes.
He got up and stepped outside his house onto the soft, flowing grass of his front yard. His home sat on the tip of a hill-edge, right by the ocean, which roared two hundred feet below. The skies above were as clear as ever, with several clouds drifting along the softly-painted blue. The man frowned; he was positive he had heard thunder. Turning his head to the ocean, he noticed something peculiar. Amongst the sunny skies, a caliginous group of clouds stood on the horizon. Streaks of lightning flashed inside the single, spot of gloom, followed by deafening sounds of thunder.
Squinting his eyes, the man stared into the heart of the clouds. He could swear, something was floating in the midst of the-
"Mr. Cross," a shaky voice cried out, "uh, Mr. Cross, sir?"
The man turned around to the voice. There came a bumbling, portly man, walking up the steps to his house.
