it says my proxy settings are missing?

when i try to log into msn messenger or log onto download sites, it says my proxy settings are missing or incorrect. what do i do about this problem?

Do you have cable or dsl connection? What kind of internet connection are you using?

i have shaw cable internet.

ok listen to these steps. This might help.

Step one: open intenet explorer
Step two: click on tools, (at the top toolbar) then internet options.
Step three: click on the connections tab at the new window that just popped up
Step four: Remove anything in the dial-up and virtual network box
Step five: Click on Lan settings
Step six: Disable or turn off anything that is clicked

If everything is already removed and or disabled then i have no clue.
