This script will make a christmas tree but I want it to write it in the div named content instead in the body.

Code:
<script>
var width = 1;

for(height=0; height<=5; height++)
 {
 for(subHeight=0; subHeight<=5; subHeight++)
  {
  for(subWidth=1; subWidth<=width; subWidth++)
   {
     var Ornament=Math.round(Math.random()*10)+1;
     var oColor=Math.floor(Math.random()*16000000)+1;

     if (Ornament<=1)
      {
      document.write("<font color="+oColor+">1</font>");
      }

     if (Ornament>=2)
      {
      document.write("<font color="+oColor+">0</font>");
      }
   }
  document.write("<br>")
  width = width + 1;
  }
 width=width - 2;//thickness
 }
</script>

<div id="content">
</div>

I want to set a variable as the value of an input in a form. With that value the script will make the background color = to that var value. I used:
Code:
 varcolor=document.getElementById('content').tableForm.color.value;
but Firebug gave me error:

Code:
document.getElementById("content").tableForm has no properties
 var color = document.getElementById('content').tableForm.color.value;

Here are the stuff:

Code:
<script>
function changeBGcolor()
{
 var color = document.getElementById('content').tableForm.color.value;
 document.getElementById('content').style.background = color;
}
</script>

Code:
<div id="content">
<form name = tableForm>
 <table border = 1>
  <tr>
   <td>Background color</td>
   <td>
    <input type = text
           name = color>
   </td>
  </tr>
 </table>
</form>
</div>

Try Making the input like this:
Code:
    <input type="text" name="color" />

Then the code to get the data would be:
Code:
var yourvariable = document.getElementById('color').value;

:)

DDR your input doesn't have the id="color" only name="color"

HTML:
<input type="text" name="color" id="color" value="" />

It does not show error anymore, but it does not change the background

Code:
<input type = button
        value = "change"
      onClick = changeBGcolor()>

Code:
function changeBGcolor()
{
 var color =  document.getElementById('color').value;
 document.getElementById('content').style.background = color;
}

document.getElementById('content').style.backgroundColor = color;
OR
document.getElementById('content').style.background-color = color;

Try those.

heh it worked :). Thank you

but I am confused. In one code I wrote this:

Code:
document.getElementById('content').style.background="red";

and this changes the background color without adding color at the end of background

JavaScript will not change the source. It will only do it visually, you will not be able to see the changes made by JS in the coding source.

1)My page that contains <div id="content"> has CSS style file linked to page. In CSS, I set
Code:
#content {
cursor: url("images/CursorC.cur"), url("images/CursorN.cur"), pointer;
overflow: scroll;
}

But when I mouse over the scroll, the pointer becomes the default pointer but on mouse out, it becomes my custom cursor. How do I make the scrollbar to display my custom cursor?

2)When I run a javascript that pops up a window, my mouse becomes the default pointer but after the execution, it is back to my custom cursor. How do I make the cursor during javascript popups to be my custom cursor?

3) In Firefox, you see a picture next to and to the very left of the URL address. How do I do this?

2) Make sure you have the CSS in the page that is being popped up.

2) The javascript is an onclick event function. I already have CSS loaded on page

On the popup page? Or just the page the JS link is on?

    How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
    I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
    Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
    Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
    And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
    These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
    Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
    Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
    Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
    That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
    I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
    I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

    I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
    I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
