I'm in the middle of Building an RPG which will involve traveling back and forth through different maps, just like the Orc RPG where you play the Beastmaster on TFT. I need the right trigger combination so that you can travel back and forth between maps and keeping the changes that have been made to each map. I have tried doing the Game Cache idea but something is going wrong :banghead: as none of my units from the previous map reapear. I understand that what i am asking may be very complicated but i would appreciate any help that anyone can give on this subject.

The only advice that I can give you is to open the Orc campaign maps and see how they do it there.

U can't open the file thats the problem, you do know the Level i'm talking about right?

You can open the file. Download the program WinMPQ and use that to open the file "war3xlocal.mpq" in your W3 directory. From there, find the map and open it.

Someone has gotta know how to do something like this it can't be that hard

Hope to help

Just make a really big map and have different regions for eatch thing and set the camera bounds to just that region :D

Lol, i tried that lasty time and it turned out to have to many things in once place. My level isn't Big enough for what i had in mind. Oh and i did check out the Rexxar Map, the triggers are insane there has to be an easier way!

Your idea is kinda hard but with Weu Avdavned let you open other maps like exemple u are playing your ffirst map and u need a quest to pass to next map like in diablo "act´s" well than u pick triger

advanced triggers -> Game - Save game as SaveFile.w3z and load LoadFile.w3z (Skip scores)

but first u have to use Game chace save triggers (like items heros levels dunno how u gonna set it up but anyway...

u doing that u can go and back to anymap u want (but that needs the map in import manager: well i never used that trigger beacuse it will be hard to crontol that shit

I'm sorry could you make it more clear what i'm supposed to do again? All i want is to be able to (in Order) Save the Map, when the Hero gets to the point where its supposed to change map, then load the Hero on the next map right at the start. Then as soon as the level has been completed, change the level back to the first 1, but still have all the changes that have been made previously by the hero on the first trip through the level. If that makes any sense  .

I don't think you understand how complex that is you need to use game caches for unit level and I pretty sure all the heroes items to.

Wow really. this is going to get annoying i can tell, maybe it would be best if i just turned this into a campaign level instead, what you think?

Why not just do the easy thing and copy and paste Blizzards scripts and just replace Rexar with your hero.

And Blizzards scripts are more complex because of the fact they deal with Rohkan aswell.

just use save and load trigger mode from WEU
and than when u want change the map like u teleport u mean?
so when a units use teleport item or ability than actions

just oder to game save "name of map.w3z" than load "map 2 .w3z" without score

it will be like u quit the game and creat a new game changing map but its more fast with W3u system and it will e players allow to keep playing and wih the save and load trigger it always will be refreshin the items hero lvl hero skills gold

:D

If you look a the scripts blizzard are using they would be hard just to replace my Hero with Rexxar, as there are loads of Variables aswell to think about that don't exist in My lvl so stuff would start going horribly wrong lol.
I do have a second hero to think about aswell but it would be nice just to get this 1 working :D

Ok i decided to make a map where you don't go back, much like a campaign. Does anyone know how to Keep a Hero from one level to the next? :) I've read that this is much simpler than what i previously asked

For map 1:

Code:
Game Cache - Create a game cache from myMapsName.w3v
Unit Group - Pick every unit in (Units owned by Player 1 (Red) matching (((Matching unit) is A Hero) Equal to True)) and do (Actions)
    Loop - Actions
        Set counter = (counter + 1)
Game Cache - Store (Picked unit) as (Hero + (String(counter))) of Heroes in (Last created game cache)
Game Cache - Store (Player 1 (Red) Current gold) as Gold of Resources in (Last created game cache)
Game Cache - Store (Player 1 (Red) Current lumber) as Lumber of Resources in (Last created game cache)
Game Cache - Save (Last created game cache)

"counter" is an integer variable.
If there's only 1 Hero, you can store it directly as "Hero1"...

In map 2:

Code:
Game Cache - Create a game cache from myMapsName.w3v
Game Cache - Restore Hero1 of Heroes from (Last created game cache) for Player 1 (Red) at (Player 1 (Red) start location) facing 270.00

--- More than 1 Hero? Add more "restore"s. ---
Game Cache - Restore Hero2 of Heroes from (Last created game cache) for Player 1 (Red) at (Player 1 (Red) start location) facing 270.00

Player - Set Player 1 (Red) Current gold to (Load Gold of Resources from (Last created game cache))
Player - Set Player 1 (Red) Current lumber to (Load Lumber of Resources from (Last created game cache))

Looks like it might just work :)

One question do i have to import the second map file into the Editor?

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
