L4D2 Crashing to desktop all the time

I know there are a few l4d2 topics around, but I really need help because this issue is driving me crazy. I have a non-steam version of l4d2, but it constantly crashes. I reinstall the game, play with the video settings, and nothing works. I've downloaded a couple of patches that are supposed to fix it, but it doesn't. :banghead:

The funny is that I got the game working perfectly a while ago, and I could play for as long as I wanted without it crashing. I then tried to change the antialiasing, and then the crashing came back, and I tried repeating the steps that made it work first time over and over, but nothing works.

I'm really desperate to fix this problem, so any help is greatly appreciated!

Can you play one game then it crashes or does it crash earlier.
Do you play single player?
How do you start the map you play on or does it crash before you can?

Oh sorry for reviving a dead thread, but the solution to this problem is simply to patch l4d2 to the latest patch, which I think is 2.10. That fixes any ctd's.
