hello.

I have been trying for a long time this morning to try to get a leaderboard up and going. I hav asked for help from a helper called senkin or something, he told me to try out things myself. After countless hours and sitting in my chair and nerding out on trying to get this little leaderboard going i have decided to post another post to ask for help.

I have read the tutorials about leaderboards, but they are really confusing and some of the triggers i have no idea what they do or where to find them.

so can someone please tell me how to setup a leaderboard for kills and where to find those darn triggers?

Well, since you have spent countless hours working on it and are confused by looking at the trigger completely as a whole, why don't you post your trigger here.

Go to the trigger editor, and click on your trigger. Now on the right hand side of your screen (Where all the trigger data is), look at the top. Not the comment part, but the top of the data part and look for the name of the trigger. Right click it, and click copy as text.

Paste it on this forum. Do that for all of the triggers in your map relating to the leaderboard.

I'll try and see what is wrong with your leaderboard after that because if you followed a tutorial, chances are only a few lines of your trigger are wrong.

alright this is what i got and i understand it's not everything that's posted on the tutorial but seriously that thing is confusing .. i have no idea what most of those triggers does and where to find them ...

Time - Elapsed game time is 5.00 seconds
no conditions

Actions:
Leaderboard - Create a leaderboard for (All players) titled Kills
Player Group - Pick every player in (All players) and do (Do nothing)
If ((Evaluate Leaderboard <gen> conditions) Equal to True) then do (Do nothing) else do (Do nothing)

>according to the tutorial, this trigger "Player Group - Pick every player in (All players) and do (Do nothing)" at the end of it, it says action or something ... i got no idea what that action is supose to do and which one to select.. it won't lket me select nothing...

I beg of you, teach me!

Umm, could you please post all of your leaderboard triggers? It takes just a few seconds to copy them...

From the trigger you posted..

"Player Group - Pick every player in (All players) and do (Do nothing)" does absolutely nothing so it isn't needed...Read it aloud like a sentence and it'll make sense.

"If ((Evaluate Leaderboard <gen> conditions) Equal to True) then do (Do nothing) else do (Do nothing)" Same as above.

If you don't know what to do for the action, just tell me what it is supposed to say in text, and I'll tell you where its under.

Some of the tutorials listed, like leaderboards, hero revive and whatnot, do require you to know your way around the trigger editor a little.

Like pulling down conditions, and finding the right one (boolean, unit, integer) and how to 'stack' trigger math with the pull downs.

That makes these tutorials harder on new guys, but most of this type of help would be in a 'Basic Trigger' tutorial, and not the advanced ones.

After I told him to learn i said for him to msg me again after a few hours orf trying to learn triggers about leaderboards, I wanted him to get some porductivity instead of me just giving him all the awnsers right off the bat.

He never messaged me again. I was just going to give the info to him then he never talks to me again so I am like w.e.

You man if you want it come and message me again and I will help ya out and teach ya the ropes.

Also, in the last template there was a seperation between sticky threads and regular threads in the forum
  • Ghan Ghan:
Not sure. It's probably part of a cron job.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hey Ghan, whatever cron job its part of its not running its been the same for days. If it does not work can we remove it?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    LOL! A tweak job!
  • The Helper The Helper:
this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I'm guessing it is not retroactive.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Next on the punch list: Update the server to Ubuntu 24.04.

One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
  • The Helper The Helper:
