Legends of Arnoth

The legends of Arnoth is a collection of stories and histories of the world Arnoth and its creation.

Part 1: Divine Architects
In the beginning, there were only five; the Behemoths. Gornoreth, Threil, Xiani, Beregroth, and Ki. In unison they formed the Divine Architects, a council of celestial beings. As the only living things in the universe, they grew lonely. Space lay empty, save for the uninhabitable stars and asteroids. And so, they began their task; The Creation. Goroneth tore from his kingdom thousands of stars, manipulating them into a barren planet a with cruel environment. Then Xiani, combining the tiniest bits of air on her stars, gave life to Goroneth’s planet. Threil, always an inquisitive one, had begun manipulating a new element; water. He began sewing this new water into the barren world of Goroneth, giving it vegetation and climate. Upon seeing their wonderful work, Ki began her own, experimenting and creating; the new planet needed inhabitants. The behemoth Ki had always been somewhat vain, proud of her beautiful appearance. She crafted these new beings in her own image; she named them Elves, in honor of her most precious star. They were tall folk of light skin, with long, pointed ears and elegant features. They settled into the forests, organizing by tribes. They were peaceful creatures, and rarely would fight amongst one another.

The Elves would praise Ki as their primary Goddess, but they would still pay tribute to the other Behemoths for creating their world. Beregroth was the only one who had not revealed himself to them, as he despised them for their, what he thought to be cowardly, nature.

Beregroth watched their work. He was angered with Ki, who had brazenly inhabited the planets without permission of the others. Xiani, Goroneth, and Threil, who had already created the base planets, agreed Beregroth should create a race to accompany the new Elves. Above all else Beregroth respected power and honor, and he created the Daegons. Massive serpentine creatures, they were furious to behold. When created they dug into the ground, creating a massive network of burrows on the planets The Daegons were a harsh race, and like Beregroth they honored and desired power. Countless wars were fought over control between them for two centuries, until at last they broke into tribes, several even migrating into the surface world.

The mass of burrows underneath the world of Arnoth soon formed massive caverns, and became known as the Core Realm. It became a place of hostility between the Daegons, as other creatures, mutated offshoots, began inhabiting the Core Realm. Their threat united the Daegons in the Core Realm for several centuries. Those above lived in a nomadic fashion, wandering and hunting. Most found themselves heading north, to the cold and young mountains.

Part 2: The Early Ages
It wasn’t until six centuries after The Creation that Daegons and Elves finally met. Almost completely opposite of each other, they despised one another, always being careful to not mingle. A certain Daegon tribe, known as Beregroth’s Children, refused to share Arnoth with the Elves, and so began the First War.

Beregroth’s Children was a tribe originally made of outcasts of the original Daegons. They had gained power by show of brutality and greed. Unlike their kin, they showed no honor in their ways. But their greatest hate was the Elves, opposite to all they were. Their false prophets, Advent Seers, told the tribe that the Elves must be killed for Beregroth.

Beregroth’s Children was ruthless in their first attack, the Northlands offensive. In the region were scattered Elven towns, most lightly guarded. The Daegons poured in, pillaging the villages and razing the forest to the ground. The heart of the Elven lands, Kinia (named after Ki) had begun coordinating the first Elven army the world had seen. Although agile and lithe, none were seasoned, and even less had the courage to stand to the towering Daegons. Yet they marched nonetheless. They met a Beregroth’s Children raiding party; it was a disaster. The ruthless Daegons destroyed a quarter of the army and scattered the rest. It took weeks for the generals to reorganize the separated troops.

At the time, the Elves were equipped with crude wooden spears and shields; they had yet to master any form of craftsmanship other than the basic needs. The Daegons didn’t even use weapons and instead made use of their massive claws. The surface ones rarely made any permanent structures, and instead just made simple tents and mud homes for temporary living.

After seeing the disaster that was the Elven Army, one general, General Gladien, took away two-thousand soldiers, which was about half of the current army. He created a military camp, personally training them as he could. They were enlisted on hunting missions to practice with weapons and become accustomed to killing. After two months, they were returned to the field. The army was separated into two sections; each had a thousand of the trained soldiers. Each section was sent to the opposite ends of the Northlands, boxing in the invading Daegons. They marched inward, fighting off any of the smaller raiding parties on the way to the larger focal group. In the heart of the Northlands four Advent Seers lead several hundred of the strongest warriors towards the south; Kinia. The two Elven armies came at them from both sides, catching the Daegons between each other. Unprepared, the leading Advent Seers panicked, fleeing to leave the warriors leaderless. The trained and now experienced elves crushed the Daegons, with few casualties on their side. The elves had won the First War, but most of the Northlands was now destroyed. Beregroth’s Children lived on, the surviving Advent Seers reorganizing and continuing their zealot-like work.

The Advent Seers were the first Daegons to use magic, and it mesmerized their kin. Several Elves were also beginning to learn of it, though both races still knew little of the mysterious art.

Those are Parts 1 and 2, which are the beginnings of the world.

  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air
  • The Helper The Helper:

Another bot invasion 493 members online most of them bots that do not show up on stats
  • Varine Varine:
I'm looking at a solid 378 guests, but 3 members. Of which two are me and VSNES. The third is unlisted, which makes me think its a ghost.

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
