Hi,
I wonder if it's easy to link map together? if it is, could you tell me how please.
In my RPG when you gonna choose your hero, i don't want it to be on the same map, + there should be a trigger so when you walk to a Well, you fall down to the underground world.

If it's not to hard and require JASS, please tell me how:)

Thanks in Advance!

If you are talking about linking two different map files, you could do it in single player, like a campaign, but on BNet; no.

However, you can simulate that by just making your map larger, and putting your "hero selection" area in the corner where nobody sees it. Then you can make your hero teleport when he falls down a "well" into the other section of the map (where the actual RPG is).

If you don't really get what I'm saying, tell me your email and I'll send you a map called Water War. To anyone who doesn't know what the maker actually did, it looks exactly like a completely new map when you "submerge" underwater. It is a neat map, just tell me your email.

I mean on Battle.net I've seen it in Dark Linage Owen 0.3 RPG...

I haven't played that map...so could you please explain more of what you are trying to do?

Does the Dark Lineage Owen RPG show a loading screen in-between "maps"? If not, they are probably using triggers to teleport you to another section of the map, and changing the minimap (through triggers as well) which looks almost exactly like a "new" map.

If I can find the map & if I have time I'll unprotect that map and take a look at it.

That sounds almost exactly like what I was saying...

Just Camera - Restrict Camera Bounds for Player until they have picked their hero.

Okay, so there is no way to really Link 2 different maps together?

No, there's not.

Why? I think it has something to do with not being able to save all the players in the Game Cache. But I just know linked maps are restricted to 1 player! :( Sad, isn't it? I know I'd love to do a multi linked bunch of maps, but alas. Can't

Alexander

Why don't you just have a little section in your map for your hero picking place, restrict the camera bounds = so it looks like a "different map"!

Only things that truly need multiple maps are campaigns... and maybe some RPs.

Hmm, this is an idea I just had:

If you get the WEU tool, and have save-load codes, you could have 2 different maps, and just have people load their characters onto the second map. I BELIEVE that's possible, because I remember Curse of Time had 2 maps and you could save/load your character onto the second one. Not 100% sure HOW, but I'm pretty damn sure you could do it! :D

Just a thought...

Seems too complicated:D I haven't even gotten the save/load code from EZ to work yet, i can save, but loading doesn't work:P
But i have created a small corner, with 11 hero's available for choosing now... It's my first map so... im still at the newbie stage:)

11 heroes is pretty good if they are custom. You can use the a trigger that restricts the camera for the player to the small area where you pick your hero if you want.

-Demonfaze

yeah, the 11 are going to be custom... mostly, at least at spells/abilities/buffs/models/some custom models maybe, we'll see, but it's my first MAP ever, so don't expect too much:)

Yea, this sounds like one of the better first maps though. :P

I recently posted my first map from a year ago (I fixed a few bugs, which is why the version is dated recently) if you want to see it. You can find it in the hosted maps post at the top of this forum section.

Sure i will download it,
Then try it
Then go sleep:)
Goodnight have a good day/night depending on where you live^^

How often does the Trending Content box refresh?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Also, in the last template there was a seperation between sticky threads and regular threads in the forum
  • Ghan Ghan:
Not sure. It's probably part of a cron job.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hey Ghan, whatever cron job its part of its not running its been the same for days. If it does not work can we remove it?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    LOL! A tweak job!
  • The Helper The Helper:
this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I'm guessing it is not retroactive.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Next on the punch list: Update the server to Ubuntu 24.04.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Mad Lads is new I see it displays original post date
  • The Helper The Helper:
as long as it changes it is good - it is good now it updated and its new stuff
  • The Helper The Helper:
One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
  • The Helper The Helper:
oh wow, i bet i can post x links now and do the webp pics now giggity
  • The Helper The Helper:
ahh anubis blocks anyone that has javascript turned off
