I am trying to put custom loadign screen in my map, but im having a problem. I have the first paragraph show below done, but the 2nd confuses me. I do not have a model file...i do not even know what this means. and until i get this model i guess i can not use the custom screen becuase it says no appropiate file found. So my main question is, how can i change the type to a model/import as a model?

"Importing your Files
Inside World Editor, load the Import Manager under the Module menu. Click on File, Import and open the BLP file that you just saved. Now you need to change the custom path. Double click the item inside the import manager, and check the box that says Use Custom Path. Change the path to "FullScreen.blp" with nothing before it and proper case.

Now import the loading screen file. This model file is a new loading screen which is only one texture. Other loading screens have four corners, and require four images. This screen makes it much easier to use. Once you import it, double click it and check Use Custom Path. Change the model files path to just "LoadingScreen.mdx" with nothing before it either."

yep i have done the same tingies and my loading screen appears as a big black space :(

If you follow the loading screen tutorial exactly, you should have no problems. Make sure that the quality of your image isn't TOO high, because sometimes when I have my quality high, the image doesn't work. I don't know if it's an extractor problem or what, but that's just what I've come to figure out.

The loading screen tutorial can be located here: http://www.world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/loadscreen.php

Good luck :)

Also remember that using some image editors when you resize, it tries to retain the proportions.. so if your image is 1024x768, if you were to shring 1024 to 640 then 768 would shrink to 480.... you need to disable this constrain.. sometimes its a checkbox and sometimes its a little lock symbol.. depdends on the program you use.... Loading Screens are always 512x512.. Looks funny but when you convert it to blp and put it in the map... warcraft 3 loads it correctly.. so no worries.

But why wouldn't you want to constrain proportions? I mean, you don't want an image thats really long and really skinny do you? The proportions keep it... proportional.

Because.... like i said.. warcraft will put it back correctly.. you change it to 512x512 cause thats a BLP formatting thing.... Just trust me.. Try it.

Proportinal?

There are several reasons here.

Warcraft uses textures in 32, 64, 128, 256, and 512. Not perefebly 1024x768.

Now the BEST reason is file size. And I think I explain that in the tutorial

The algorithm for saving the tga/blp data is the smallest when an image is a perfect square in width and height.

Then because of UVW, warcraft streches the image back out to fit.

well.....as you can see below, it says a model file should be there, but it doesnt really say what u should be uploading, i was guessign its the picture its self, but it still just says image, not model.

if u copy and paste the link above it says the type for the 2nd one is a model, as the first is an image/texture, that which i already have, but im not able to get the model. And...er, what exactly is the model file?

i have my picture all set up, 512 x 512 and stuff, so ive followed all, just cant get the model in it.

Latly loading screens havent been workig for me and senkin in new maps but i have done them correctly in the past.

I found the tutorial perfect and had no problem. It tells you exactly what to do.

Read it slowly and don't skip any parts.

FullScreen.mdx is the MODEL file.

Import that with no path, just like that picture you posted, into the import manager.

Where? You can download it RIGHT from the tutorial.

THEN plug it in, go to Map Preferences, Loading screen, and pick it from the list.

And I hope you have TFT.

Sooo........

so the Fullscreen.blp is the model file? what it looks liek what ur saying is i import a 2nd one but with no path, correct? when i think about it that does sound logical.....and yeah i have TFT (great game aint it? lol) well, ill try it out later today (im at school at the moment so cant now)
So, thank you if it does work, but i made have misunderstood you so it might not

Yes...You can download Fullscreen.mdx straight from the tutorial...

Besides that it looks like you got it...

well....no luck, cant get it as a model, and i tried no path. heres what i got: (ignore the middle one, thats my minimap image)

http://img194.echo.cx/my.php?image=warcraft3qo.png

it just wont go to model. i appreciate the help from all of u, and im guessign uve said everything. so unless anyone has somethign else to say...well, IDK so confusing.

fullscreen.blp is your loadscreen image and you need loadscreen.mdx (completly diffrent) along with it to make it work correctly does this help... It should look like this. Hope it helps :D

yeah..i dont have that, do u know where i can get? maybe post link of site i can?

I think that the pixel size of the image is not important, so you can use any image but it will be changed in game and might look bad

yeah, its not really, but i did it anyway, dont want it chancing looking bad.

also, i finally found out how to get the model...... http://www.wc3sear.ch/index.php?p=Tools&ID=3&sid= was where it was.....so, ty you all.

another thing though, my minimap image isnt working either, do u need a model for that as well? If so, then this solves 2 of my problems. possibly 3, if i can do it before my trial with the photo thing wears out.

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.

The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
