Loading Screen Imagery Trouble

I followed the Loading Screen tutorial at http://world-editor-tutorials.thehelper.net/loadscreen.shtml

but I'm running into problems. I have the files imported and all and my own image, but the background isn't showing up when the game starts! All it shows is a blank, white screen...with the text on the side and the load bar of course.
 
I had the same problem. ryoko needs to explain better about the image.mdx in the tutorial. That .mdx is a universal modl that is used for all loading screens. Download it, and import it into your map.
 
Do you still have the problem? I don't fully understand your post.

I have downloaded it and I have it imported to my map and I DO have it even put on in the Scenario >> Map Loading Screen. It just doesn't call my image onto the screen, which is sitting right next to it with the custom path right as he said it. I think he forgot to talk about a step.
 
Wait, Darg did something to mine but I forgot what. That's what made mine work... Hmmm... I think he copied and pasted the parts of the image onto an open blank .blp. I don't know, you'll have to ask him or somebody else because I'm stumped, that's the reason mine worked.
 
Ok. I'll mess around with it. Thanks for your help. The main problem is, an open blank blp? I don't think the Extractor does that.
 
I've tried naming it FullScreen and the path has EVERYTHING with it.

It's not a bad file, because the extractor can open it up PERFECTLY.

I also spell correctly and I look over my variable names twice or thrice before submitting, so I doubt I have an imperfect casing of my file.

Where are you supposed to put your image anyhow? Mine's just sitting in the Import Manager, not pathing to anywhere in particular. I can't find a REAL sound editor OR image editor here, so I can't do sound or any of the sort...without triggers of course. Which makes everything tedious, but now I'm going off-topic.
 
I tried it too, used PSP, and saved it as .TGA, it was a selectable choice, and well, it saved yada yada yada, I try to load it into the image extractor and it said "unsopported compression" What does that mean?
 
Some programs sae Targa and also compress them. Use Irfanview if your not sure what to do. It's free and it can save Targas properly.
 
What about Adobe Illustrator? That's what I saved it on.

I tried Irfanview but it DOESN'T have correct TGA compression. Extractor says it's "an unsupported compression".
 
If you can open it up in Image Extractor then don't worry about it. If you can't, then use Irfanvew.
 
I can open it up in the extractor, it's just not working when it gets to the editor. The one saved from Illustrator, I mean.

Is there somewhere in particular you need to place the background image for the loading screen?

Because, like I said, I put that .mdx file in the scenario but it doesn't seem like the image/texture imported does ANYTHING. It needs to be placed somewhere...like the mdx file.
 
Alright, I got the .TGA into the Wc3 image extractor, saved it as FullScreen.blp, it saved sucessfully, I can see it on the desktop, but when I try to load it into the import manager...It doesnt show up, and when I type the file name where the file is supposed to be, it says unable to load...Well, I dont understand now. :(
 
Can you get it to work in the loading screen?
 
Did you do the steps EXACTLY? If you did and it's not working, Darg or Ryoko should know the problem because thatw as the problem with mine. Darg did something special to my image which made it work.
 
Yes I did. But the only thing you do with the image/texture is import it to the manager and take away the folder path, so I suppose there's more to it in the editor or something.
 
I still have the problem....

The mods/admins keep overlooking it now :(

Where can I upload my file so I can see if there's a problem? I can easily put it in a ZIP, but I can't find the attach file.

Anyway, here's my Blp

Also, I've checked my Import Manager and all of my files BUT this Blp has Used: 1. For FullScreen.blp it says Used: 0. Why is this?

    And we JUST got a new warcraft 3 campaign after 20 years! Bummer lol. Thanks for building and maintaining such an awesome community over the years TheHelper! Forums like these are definitely a relic of their time, and in its heyday it really was the place to be in its niche. Hopefully the discord community stays active!

    and i dont think I am going to close the site it is just likely to change drastically but I am working on something for the interim still fleshing it out. Most of the forums are going to be gone though and the NUON site and Warcraft sites will probably to to different hosts. I might keep the news forum though :)

    I'm going on a backpacking trip pretty soon. I've been trying to do it for a few years now and it just couldn't happen. I'll be by myself, and I think it'll be really good for me. My pack is already too heavy so I can't bring alcohol, and that might be a benefit to me. Like had that probation and couldn't drink, but it's a bit different when you can't do something voluntarily versus threat of literal imprisonment
