Loading Screen

Ok what does a picture need to be to be able to be put on the loading screen. Like pixles and all of that stuff. I know you can because I have alot of games with one in the back. Plz help.

yea Darg i talked about puting my minimap in my loading screen i went to the site that u recomened and i dled the file but how do i change the size of the TGA image

do you want the minimap to take up the whole loading screen? If not, what background do you want to have?

maybe if you can give me the minimap picture, I can do something with it.

oh wait, are you asking me how to make the minmap picture bigger? cause thats a good question, you can't really without making it look all pixellated and ugly.

i no it will look ugly but thats not what i want. i want the usual text in there but i want the background to be a screenshot of the map. (plz tell me how to make screenshots) and i m gonna put the minimap in the bottom left part of the screen. so i have it all planed out i just need to know how to do it. i looked the forum that SD_Ryoko put here and went to the site u suggested there. but i don't know how to make it a bigger size (the loading screen) the TGA image a 512 x 512. then i don't know how to convert it to a blp how u do that. well mabye u can help me after i get all of the data in. like the screenshot and the final version of the minimap. so i just need to know how to do it now then i will get a screenshot and then i will wait till the end to put the minimap in.

Aight aight. Now I get it. Your looking at that tutorial on loading screens.

1. Download that model file from the tutorial.
2. Make a screenshot of your map using PRINT SCREEN and PAINT.
3. Crop it in one of the programs that does TGA. I know you'll ask what program, so I'll tell you now - its in this forum. Theres many topics on it.
4. Make the image 1024x768 pixels. THEN shrink it 512x512. It will look smashed, but WC3 will stretch it back out again.
4. Save that image as a TGA file.
5. Use a converter to make it a .blp. That tutorial tells you exactly where to get the extractor/converter program.
6. Import both into your map.
7. Check 'Use custom path' for the blp, and enter FullScreen.blp, with NOTHING else on either side of it.

Done. Not much else I can tell you.

The only issue I'm still having is getting the tga->blp conversion to work right, still haven't gotten to the bottom of it yet.

in paint u can't save the image as a TGA. its not on the list. i would attach the image but it won't let me it is too big. u have an email i can send it to?

you cant save tga in paint.

try saving as jpg and use irfanview to convert into tga (irfanview is in FAQ)

k thx but how do i make the image streched back out again? i had it the way u said and here it is if u want to see it. it is not streched back again how i do that? ok i tryed to attach my map but it is too big. how do i make the image a smaller size? it is a blp.

ok i reduced the quality to 50 it looks really bad but it was all that i could fit. and when it was on 512 x 512 u said that WC3 would change it back. it didn't can u plz help me and i would like the quality to be 75 but it takes up 332k!!

omg i can't attach blps so does anyone have an email i can send it to?

did you follow the instructions in that tutorial about making the original image 1024x768, and then resizing to 512x512? It appears you haven't done that, thats why your image is stretched.

what u mean resize it? i put the attributes on 1024x768 then i changed it to 512x512. so what do i do and how do i make it take up less sapce? it takes up 332 k!!!
