LOD Singleplayer char transfer - How?

I have 2 mid level characters, 55 and 72, on my old gaming computer. Built a new one, installed LOD, transfered the character files into the new save directory, and cranked it up. Boo! No chars. What's the trick?

for the record...


yep the chars have to be the same patch version or the game won't recognize them (due to the various changes that were made with each patch)
