Im making a map and I need people to help me.

It will be a Life game, I don't know if there has ever been one or not but I need a bunch of people to help. I will be a terrainer, I need a person for the object editor and a person for triggers. I might need doubles for one or more of theese sections. If anyone is willing to help please post a reply or contact me. I will also be doing triggers.

being more annoying : fair is the means between cheap and weak so if you raies every to 1000000000000000-1000000000000 then taht will be the new meaning of fair.(jokeing with you)

Actually there was a pretty good game like this, "Real Life [For morons]", I reccomend playing that at least once, since it did a lot right.

And just so you know, terrain is about 15% of the map, the other %'s being 45% triggers, 30% Testing/Balancing, 10% Unit Creation. So if you're just doing terrain it isn't really your map, FYI. I reccomend learning basic-moderate triggers before trying to make your own map. (learning by doing is the best way to learn, so don't get discouraged from doing this map)

yeah triggers are the main part of map making, if all u do is terrain work, or just unit work, then all your doing is creating pieces of the game and whoever is making the triggers is the one whos putting those pieces together and overall creating the actual game : /

if u just had a bunch of units on pretty terrain, ud have nothing

I disagree with those %s.

Have a look at your average Blizzard Melee map.
No custom units at all, no triggering to speak of.
And yet, all of those maps have some character.
By terrain alone.

I've also seen maps with comments like "Wow! This terrain rocks!"...
they used two different tiles for the entire map,
there's some five trees and a hill somewhere.
That's not a map.
That's @!#?@!, and I'm being friendly here.

If your terrain doesn't fit the idea of your map,
players will never feel "at home".
That can make all the difference.

Anyway, here's a slightly different one:
Idea: 50%
Implementation: 25% (includes Heroes, Units, Creeps and Triggers)
Terrain: 25%

Happy mapping,
AceHart

i would have to say i disagree with you it some thingmore like this
originality : 40
blanced : 30
Unit : 15
Triggers (also include speacil spells) : 15
i would have to originality is the most important if its not orginal then people slowly get trried of maps

I again, have a different idea of percentages.

For any custom game thats not a hero arena or a melee style game, Triggers are the way you define how your map will play, your game mechanics.

Without this, your entire map will be little more than a pretty piece of terrain with which to run around casting pretty spells at each other.

However, without the initial concept of the map, you will yet again come out with little more than pretty terrain and lots of spells.

Thus, I believe these are accurate percentages;

35% Idea
30% Triggers
15% Terrain
20% 'Finishing Touches'.

By finishing touches, I mean what makes the game fun to play, be that custom heroes or spells, or just MORE of everything.

Feel free to argue any points I have raised,

-3nvy.
