Hey,

I'm trying to erase files off of my 2GB Kingston Data Traveler flash drive that I use with my Macbook Pro (2007 or 2008 model, not sure which) and I get the message:

"The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found.
(Error code -35)"

The files have strange names and I haven't seen them on my flash drive before. I suspect their files that have been corrupted, but I can figure out what they may have been. The file names that I wish to delete are:

0Â
10.ÂÁ (this and the one above are one file, apparently the name somehow has a return carriage in it)

0Â?18.0‚

10Â?1.80

FFFF??.0‚

If I had to guess at what they were, they should either be Eclipse projects I needed for my Computer Vision class, or they would be the OpenCV Library and some affiliated files, which I also needed for that class. I deleted these files off of my Macbook and forgot to do so with the Kingston, could this be the cause? I just want these files off of my flash drive. What does these error mean and how do I delete these files?

Would formatting the drive be OK? (Means everything will be wiped)

Go to applications and find something like disk utility and you can format the drive from there.

I would greatly prefer not to, and I also didn't know you could format flash drives. Would doing so make it only compatible with Macs? If so then I definitely don't want to do that.

Just a bit more info, when I I try to delete the files using a Windows Computer I get this error Message:
"Cannot delte file: cannot read from the source file or disk."

Also, on the windows machine there are only two files and the names are different:
0?
10.?? (once again, this and the above are one file with a return carriage in the name)

and

0?ü18.0é

Anybody have any idea what's going on or how to fix it?

Edit: the file names didn't come out correctly, there are a bunch of boxes instead of '?'

Depends on what filesystem you format is as. Fat32 is compatible with both Windows and Mac.

+1 to format, get everything you want off of it, then format it - it won't be mac-only if you choose fat 32
