Making a TD

I feel for you :-)

my TD ended up being a mess, really cool but a complete lagfest. I might resurrect it someday, but time is running out cause the life cycle of warcraft 3 is drawing to a close...

What stands TD for? Propably some tower defense level like "the crossing". (The crossing is a secret level in the episode "The Curse of The Blood Elves". The Secret Level Powerup can be found in the level "The Dungeons of Dalaran".)

How are such levels difficult to make?

EDIT: Err, what's this topic for?

EDIT2: You're probably thinking I'm being whiny, but I'm truly simply asking questions.

A TD is a tower defense. Creeps line up in a turkey shoot, and you mow em down or lose. Some loop around twice, some you can maze. Mine is a one shot walk by, no maze.

Whats hard? Hmmmm...

30 Tweaked creeps. Not too bad. Names, armor type, hit points, speed, bounty, etc.

5 Races. 10 Upgradeable towers. Thats 100 towers or so to make.
Graphics, projectile art, attack speeds, special abilities, tool tips, upgrade dependencies, gold cost and damage.

Play each one 20 damn times to balance out gold costs, damage, and attack types.

8 Player lanes, 5 movement regions each, thats 40 triggers for handling movements. One huge trigger with arrays would fire a couple hundred times, and... you don't want that.

Custom triggers, abilities, and variables to do neat cool things other people can't.

Difficulty, diaglog boxes, player conditions, forces, and triggers to handle em all.

Making an 8 lane map beautifull.

Making it ALL balanced together, and not suck.

lol

LOL!! Alrigt man i want the map when ur done..lol

the reason you should use it is because it can be minimized. A lot of people dont like all the space a leaderboard takes up, and would prefer it wasn't there in the first place. With a multiboard, the user can freely choose whether to display or hide the board.

remind me to get some terraining advice from you one day :-)

hmmm

maybe i can just listen to you guys talk about this stuff(not even knowin a dern thing yer sayin) all night and read it over and over and maybe i just might start to get it : )

edit: do yu consider Skibi a legend?

Leaderboard is static and stays shown until you hide it. It can really only display player names and values.

Multiboard can be minimized by the player. Its like an excel sheet. You can have multiple colums per row. You can also show icons in a multiboard. It does take more code to get it up and running. Its more complicated & sophisticated than a leaderboard.

I used a multiboard to break the 8 players down into four teams. Like such.

Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    That sounds like an adventure.

400 users all online all looking at latest content
  • The Helper The Helper:
I wonder how all these bots that sit on the lastest content page get passed anubis or maybe they did not but they are just registering on whos online
  • The Helper The Helper:
showing up on whos online not registration
  • Ghan Ghan:
The first gate is stopping all the bots that don't execute javascript.
  • Ghan Ghan:
That's the main thing with Anubis - no Javascript, no site. Typically you can still get the site to load without Javascript.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I remember the whole javascript thing, question - how many real people disable that?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hell I guess I could go back on the stats to know that - we probably capture that and we know the before and after
  • Ghan Ghan:
Real users can't really disable Javascript anymore these days.
  • Ghan Ghan:
The internet is broken without it.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    Bot readable, not human usable.
  • The Helper The Helper:
    got it
