Map Crash

I've made my best map so far, and I am very pleased with it. I continuously work with cleaning the leaks, making it more fun and better, every day. But I can't find why sometimes it just crashes... it happends randomly, almost like 1 in 100 chance per game. Its something I either missed or didn't know I created. In any case I took the error I get when it does, those of you who could know what it means, please feel with me and post whatever it is you have.

I've talked with many people about this, and those of you who have talked with me on this problem will know ;)... kidding. They informed me of things such as infinite loops, corrupted texture/model, variable division with zero... if you know something else that can cause map crash and its not:

- Location/Unit Group/Player Group/Unit/SFX/Region Leaks

Please share what you know. It may fix my problem, which in that case will credit you here and in map. I pwomise =]


Out of this conversation, I tried Leak Checker and that piece of program rocks. However I get problems when trying to clean Player Groups. So is this a way to do it, just say yes or no:

Example:

set Player_Group = (Owner of Picked Unit)
call DestroyForce ( udg_Player_Group )


Thanks beforehand and hopefully there will be solutions to this... otherwise I'll kill myself... I guess o_O

Easiest way to check is to play it again, check WHEN it got crash then check trigger which runs at that time.

Problem is, there are many that do, but none of them have leaks which I am aware of. Thanks for response

leaks do not crash maps.

what crashes maps is corrupted material or object settings which are not supported, like setting the button position for an icon to be 315 x 115y or something like this stuff.

infinite loops do not generate error messages, when your triggers are looping infinitely the computer will just assume that the game is hanging and shut it down, no message shown.
or if there are problems in the init triggers the map will not even start and you will simply be thrown back to the titel screen.

That was good help. However, I'm not an expert in rawcode and my rawcode is even more illogical than the one in the tutorial. Thanks in anycase :)

Well, since leaks and infinite loops don't cause crash I am looking at the wrong place. I wonder what kind of object settings I might be using to provoke this... default I guess.

I haven't even tweaked an ability that greatly, just changing the basic stats and effect. The units are also the same, I haven't used any custom models for anything.

I'm grasping on nothing here, and I know your right but I have nothing to play with. Its not leaks, its not triggers, its something in a rawcode I don't know how to read... *grabs knife* xD

Are there heroes on your map?
Are there any triggers creating units, destructables?

Yes there are heroes on the map. And there are triggers for creating units but not destructibles. I merely use a dummy unit maybe in 1 spell out of 40-50... so I don't create units or destructibles.

It seems that it is not object data that crashes your map since there isn't anything like that in your log that the tutorial mentions about. Sadly I know almost nothing about crashes but be sure to check again for corrupted models and such. If nothing helps just contact Blizzard

well as far as I know. there are 2 programs trying to put something in the memory, on the same place, which causes a crash. or you're wc3 installation went corrupt for some unknown reason.

try reinstalling wc3.

and if that doesn't help, its your windows installation or account.
solution to that, save every data in my documents and desktop, delete your account and create a new one.

the last option is just to reinstall windows.

my problem was solved when I created a new account. until some days later my computer crashed.

I never installed wc3... just copy-paste the folder from a friend's computer. So... I don't have an installation.

I agree that it must be something corrupt in wc3, this isn't the first time this has happened. Once it crashed on dota, I guess it was a mass fight and so many spells ... but in the map its not all that complex like it is in dota.

I'll try the windows account thingy. I am using windows 7 currently.

crashes usually happen when you do something which the editor limits by default forbid.
like setting the limit on the cargo ability over the top of 10 or setting the icon button position to an invalid location. stuff like that.
