Map Protection

I wish to protect my map, and prevent it to be falsified or stolen. How?

Then pick either one of the top two (I'll vouch for those)

The map optomizers will strip your map of GUI triggers, needless files, and strip the names from the database.

Save your map as a NEW NAME. Don't ever save over your working copy.

(You can open it in world editor, but the triggers will be gone and you can't save a working copy).

There are none. Here are your options.

1. Have someone do it for you.

2. Follow instructions at bottom of that tutorial page. Not as good as compressing the map with one of those programs, but it works a little bit.

making maps is not about popularity, its about you getting some personal satisfaction out of completing something very challenging. Also, within this community your skills are certainly respected, and that should count for something. You should listen to what we say about your maps, because you know who we are. On that same note, try to avoid getting or listening to opinions from total strangers because you have no idea who they are or how qualified they are to give opinions.

To avoid mistakes: "Umbrageous" can also be used figuratively. Besides "dark", it also means "stressed" and "aggrieved".

"Umbra" is Latin for shadow.

Ryoko, you mentioned a certain application in the tutorial site, which would help me to protect my map… Where can I download it?

For Macs: since you won't be able to use these programs, try opening up your map using MPQ2K and deleting the war3map.wtg file. This will delete your "viewable" triggers, so no one can see them if they open your map up in the editor. The triggers are safely stored elsewhere, so the map will still be playable.

I think you would hit O to open your archive, then use:

d war3map.wtg

To delete that file from it, then hit S to save, then Q to exit.

............Don't do this to your working original.

If Umbrageous is english, that falls into the words I told you about, that exist and no one uses in 'common' language. <wink>

its a command line tool, you have to type all the commands out apparently.

In that window I see a prompt where the cursor is blinking. Type "o" , hit enter, see what happens (that is the letter to type for opening an archive).
