meh help with cmd

every time i try to install java i open cmd and try to edit the "hello world file" but every time i try to use the edit command and 16-bit error pops up. ggrrrrr som1 help me plz i need to install java'

Try notepad. If you prefer to actually fix the problem rather than work around it, run the error message through the MSKB search.

More than likely AUTOEXEC.NT is missing or corrupt. Go to \windows\repair
and copy the autoexec.nt you find there to windows\system32.
